Attention gamers and game makers! Predict a team of games that have the stuff to get Greenlit on Steam and win! Again!

For those who don’t know, Steam Greenlight is a service on Steam that allows gamers to vote for the indie games that they want to see offered on the store! Anybody is free to submit their own games for consideration with a couple screenshots, a description, and $100 (which goes to charity). Sometimes you can buy/play the games via other means already (ex. Mutant Mudds is a 3DS eShop game). The number of votes is not the sole determinant of whether a game gets Greenlit or not – it also depends on if the game has done well elsewhere and how much traction it seems to have relative to other games. New games are Greenlit in sporadic batches – the last one was today, in fact.

You do not have to have an account on Steam to view the games, but having one would be nice so you can vote on them. Here’s a handy link: http://steamproxy.com/greenlight/

Now for the rules: Anyone is allowed to enter - even those not in the Game Creation Club!
You can choose a ‘team’ of 9 games according to the rules below anytime between now and October 14th.
Submit your list to brianbcdefg123 at gmail dot com. Please put ‘Steam Greenlight’ in the subject box, or some other term that will make it easy for me to identify messages.
Name a Steam Greenlight game for every on-field position on a standard baseball team (9 positions in all). Each position is worth a different amount of points. If the game in that position is Greenlit by the end of December, you get the points! I wanted to get this out earlier and have the end be at the last GCC meeting of the semester, but I think that would be a bit too short.

Pitcher – 3 points.
1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base – 2 points each. If all of them are accepted, you get an additional point!
Catcher – 2 points.
Left Fielder, Center Fielder, Right Fielder – 1 point each. If all of them are accepted, you get an additional point!
Shortstop – 1 point.

One point bonus for each position if the game you chose is accepted and is a game that nobody else has on their list! This is to encourage you looking for games that aren’t just on the most popular list.
In the event of a tie, the person who submitted their list first will have the advantage.
Any games accepted before you submit your list will not count, so you’re encouraged to double-check before sending it off. Also check to make sure your games are from Greenlight and not Greenlight Concepts – Concepts are ineligible to be Greenlit.
On or shortly after January 1st, the winner will be declared, and a prize (TBA) will be given out if there are enough participants (last year we gave away Indie Game: The Movie to the best out of four participants)

Of course, you are encouraged to vote and spread the word on any of the Steam Greenlight games you find interesting, regardless of whether or not they are on your list!

Our first meeting of the semester will not be next Monday as I said it would be in the last post - that's Labor Day. It will be the Monday after in 243 Enarson at 7 PM.

The GCC meeting, which was to be the first this semester, has been canceled. Next week should still go as planned.

So everyone who owns any of the BIT.TRIP games got 25% off Runner 2 coupons yesterday corresponding to the number of games they have. For me, that was four (now currently at three). Full price of the game is $15, so the coupon brings it down to about $11.75. You can only use one at a time, unfortunately :P Coupons are good until April 22nd.
