Yesterday afternoon when steam sent down the "SteamPipe" update to move Half Life 2: Deathmatch over to the same file system that L4D & L4D2 uses, it "broke" the plugins on the DM server. But, after about an hours worth of work, I am happy to report that the DM server is pretty much back to normal, minus the "kill streak" sounds, and its just a matter of Keeper doing an update on the plugin....

As far as the STK website goes, thats where the "non sense" comes in... Tuesday morning I recieved an email stating that there was and "unknown" power failure in the data center, and that our server was "accidently" rebooted, upon the server coming back online it "failed to sync" and thus lead to a "server partition failure" Now in layperson terms, basically they are saying the server crashed, they dont know why, and all our data is gone.

So today I am currently in the process of rebuilding the server and "trying" to restore from my latest backup. I dont know how much of a pain in the ass this will be, but my goal for today is to at least get the server MOTDs back up along with the map/sounds redirect.

As of today (Oct 26, 2012) our domain name www.thestkclan.net has expired. I will not be able to renew it untill November 1st, so the STK website has been temporarily moved to: http://clients.griggsgraphics.com/thestkclan. I am working on getting the Server MOTDs and Player Stats moved accordingly.

Also, over the past month or so everytime Valve releases an update for OrangeBox (HL2DM, TF2, etc) It breaks the servers and myself and Mr Ace end up spending hours fixing them. So after this last update, I decided to take both of our Deathmatch Servers and combine them back into one genrealized server. This does a few things, It eases the frustration of having multiple servers to constantly update, plus it eases the pocketbooks of the clan members who do make monthly donations to keep our servers going.

We have 3 servers right now:
- STKClan Deathmatch Server ( 68.232.172.119:27015 )
- STKClan Bot Server ( 68.232.168.68:27015 )
- STKClan Private L4D2 Server ( 8.6.74.219:27015 )

FYI, after the last update L4D2 does not function properly. I'm not talking about our server, I am talking in general. You will NOT be able to join any official valve servers nor any private servers with VAC enabled. The only work around, until they fix it, is to host a game yourself. However, you must apply "-insecure" to the startup options of L4D2 for that to work. Just letting everyone know.

After spending an ENTIRE day on rebuilding the servers from scratch, they are finally fully functional again. This includes kdi, saysounds, keepers streak sounds, infinite sprint, spawn/chat protection... etc. I've tested both servers and have had no issues connecting to either of them. PLEASE let me know if there are any problems with certain maps or sounds. If you find a map does not load, or is no longer on the server, let me know so that I may rectify the problem.

This morning, I will be doing some website maintenance. After having to deal with it for a while now, the double login issue on the forums has gotten to be a little bit annoying, so i'm setting out to fix it and see if I can solve that issue.

Im doing this, I will be completely dumping the database and attempting to start it fresh. What does this mean? Well, unfortunately this means that everyone will have to re-register for the forums once they are again set back up and initialized. being that we do not have a huge following anyway, its best to get this like this solved and out of the way anyway.

I'll keep you guys posted, it shouldnt take me no more then a few hours to get this issue fixed and get the forums back up and intergrated into the site again....

It looks like its going to one of those multiple coffee pot days haha...
