Survivor. Clan. Bandit. Hero.

Long ago, the four nations of Chernarus lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Bandit Nation attacked. Only Bus Drivers, masters of all four elements, could stop them... but when the world needed them most, they vanished. 100 patches passed and my friends and I discovered a new Bus Driver, a Survivor named J. And although his Survival skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he can drive anyone. But I believe J can create a new Bus Nation, and save the world!

Bus Nation: A Group For Good

Bus Nation is a group dedicated to balancing out the moral landscape of Chernarus through heroism, bandit slaying, and of course, Bus. Our goal is to bring heroes back into fashion, in an organized, community-beneficial way. Tired of hearing the world complain about DayZ being a boring, bandit-ridden slog, we intend to populate, mitigate, and mediate the balance of the in-game powers, one server at a time.

Our main approach will be vehicular monopolization. By finding, repairing, and claiming the busses and defensive vehicles of a server, we will establish a guarded public transport system for the masses, allowing even the most fresh newbie, or the most blood-drenched bandit to reach the various locales of Chernarus with haste, for a small fee of supplies or information. While a difficult job, we think it's worth the struggle in order to bring a fresh set of dynamics to DayZ and its post-apocalyptic ruins.

Server Activity

As we are presently small, the Bus Nation will likely stick to only a few servers for group activities. Furthermore, as vehicles, the main aspect of our approach on making the game fun, do not yet exist, we are in a poor state to properly act at all. So until vehicles make their stunning return, members are asked to fight the good fight on their own and in small groups. Until the Bus arrives proper, we must make a difference individually.

Well, my fellows of the Bus Nation, Rocket has sent down some exciting news!

Today, in a new video devblog, Dean Hall talked about a number of exciting features they've got in the works! Amongst various amazing new features, like bows, zombie and loot respawning, physics, and hunting, our favorite mountain-scaling developer mentioned some very important information for us and our cause: vehicles are gonna be in development relatively soon! Once the array of announced additions from the video are more or less implemented, Dean said that his team will be getting down to business, developing a new, more complicated vehicle system. Barricades as well, very good for establishing bases of operation!

According to the devblog some of the major items will be done in less than two weeks... as such, I'm estimating vehicles to be on the horizon, perhaps a month and a half away, to be optimistic. Maybe more like two. At any rate, when this happens we'll be able to start operating as the group was made to work!

That brings me to the last point: we'll be needing everyone in the group to get onboard proper! Expect myself or other members calling on you in the near future, for team building purposes and actual operations. We intend to have a server established and occupied by the time vehicles get released, so we can scramble up some parts and get our wheels turning proper with haste! Keep your eyes on the group discussion boards folks, we'll be working out the technicals there.

Turning the Key

So, as of a couple days ago, the Bus Nation made a significant change: we are now a co-leadership! One of our first members, Matopeck, has proven his experience and initiative several times over, providing major imput in nearly all our open discussions via PM and forum-posting alike. Being a serious, hardcore veteran of the series, the decision was made to elevate him to the Bus Office, as my fellow leader of this already wonderful community.

Our ideas are constantly developing! It's a very exciting thing to see, especially when vehicles don't even exist yet! It just means that when it's time to become a real presence on the servers, we'll be that much better prepared for all Chernarus can throw at us! We now have 6 members and counting, enough people to do coordinated operations with, and so we're addressing the matter of Size versus Cohesion now.

Size v. Cohesion is a problem that I think any guild, clan, group, or community experiences at some point. When you have hundreds of members, how are you supposed to stay connected with them all? Our solution is Squads. Each Squad will be somewhere between 10 and 20 members large, to account for people having lives and not always being able to play with us (a large operating group is planned at 10, currently). It's a virtual sub-group, meant to tackle and eliminate the Size v. Cohesion issue by allowing us to grow very large, while still having manageable communities where connections can happen. Each Squad will have its own topic in a designated sub-forum for discussion to improve communication, and the right to have its own Squad title and symbol.

The first Squad, which Matopeck and I have named Squad Psi, is currently the only one. But as we gain members new Squads will be made, and so too will our community!
