Counter-Terrorist Holding Positions
The idea here is to cover all ways in & at the same time using player 1 as a scout/spotter to alert the team on the terrorist movements from spawn. This set-up is still used by -|MOD|- in many official matches and by other teams and is almost become the standard with very slight amendments to it. Those being regarding positions for players 1, 3 & 2. depending who the style & play of the other team.

Player 1 (Scout/Spotter)
M4a1 & Flash
(maybe AWP but can be risky)

Job: Take up position at the Middle and spot to T spawn ramp, can pickoff players as & when and can also full back to CT spawn if needed. Never peek around the corner to the side alley area this is a dangerous move & should never be done.

A key part of this player's role is to spot the rush & inform the team. If all 5 T's rush the A site the warning should be given & begin to move up behind the T attach to crossfire them.

If you're playing with an AWP sniper rifle take full advantage and go for a pick off shot from the start but then play safe. If you're on a M4a1 as shown here don't peek, stay hiden & use you sound. be aware of a boost to balcony room from the second mid.

Player 2
M4a1 & HE / Flash

Job: To hold the apartments by using the excellent cover & angle of attack to your advantage. Fall back to B Site if needed. From B site you have a number of positions to hold from including on site behind boxes, far back from CT house & from the pit below the doorway out itself. Camping positions include sitting over the door and above the B plant zone however you will be limited to around 1 easy kill before they are told of your position and then you're a sitting duct so MOVE!!

player 3
Mp5 / M4a1 / P90 & Flashes

Job: Your role is to drop any T's that make it up the middle so you need to be very fast & a good fragger. Use the corner of the buildings for cover & drop back when needed.

player 4
M4a1 & HE / Flash
(maybe AWP but can be risky)

Job: To hold A Site from attack, when you hear them coming HE grenade the path in & drop a smoke if needed to stop T's from picking you off at long range. You will have first line of sight so make it count, drop back to chapel area if needed.

player 5
M4a1 / Mp5 / P90 & HE / Falshes

Job: To help hold the A Site from attack, again use your sound to pickup on a T rush & get the HE grenades in before they can take hold. Sometimes it's better to use a 'spray & pray' weapon like an MP5 or TMP at this close range combat but it's down to the player. From the start of teh round you can spot down the straight towards T spawn but play it safe, don't position yourself for a full on war... spot & fall back!

de_dust is one of the most well known & played maps on Counter-Strike tour but for those who have never played it here's a few tips on the map.

T's (Terrorists) Tactics
When it comes to de_dust tactics it's all down to the weapon you buy that really forms the basics to your attack plans. If you decide to go for a snipe rifle like the AWP then your best bet would to take up position at the underpass. Hold back whilist your team mates make their attack rush then slowly move down & along the underpass route. Remember some times it pays to move quick than just sneaking along at a slow speed which can leave you very open to attack.

If however you have chosen an assult weapon like the MP5 or AK47 a quick and calculated rush attack right into the heart of the CT defence can pay off. Remember to lay down a wall of fire & grenades before diving in. The full on rush will leave you very open to attck from 3 angels so it is vitical your team provides backup cover for each other. If not then you will all be sitting ducks. Some good tactics to use i find are:

1. Depending on the team size 40% of the team take the underpass, 1 armed with AWP rifle provides cover down the underpass as the other 2 or so rush down with AK47's keeping an eye out for CT snipers & campers over the underpass bridge. Once through they will rush up the ramp and begin their assault from behind the CT defence. While this is happening the rest of the T's armed with grenades & AK47's rush the heart of the CT defence but hold back until the attack from behind begins when they then begin their attack from the front. This is where one terrorist rushes towards the underpass bridge while the others storm into bomb site 'A' and setup their defence.

2. This tactic can be risky but when executed well it will hit the CT force hard. All the T's to storm bomb site 'A' in one large single rush attack. the front 3 terrorists run straight into the 'A' site closely followed by the rest of the team who break off just short of site 'A' to attack CT's at the door area leading to bomb site 'A' Once at site 'A' if all has gone well the bomber should be planting the bomb as the other team members set-up positions to defend the area. The key here is not to then leave the bomb zone but to hold & wait for the CT's to make their counter attack.

New stuff to watch out for
The CT's underpass side has been updated & redesigned so watch out!! The CT team now have access all around the underpass at their end which greatly improves their ability to cover that sector of the map. As well as this the T's side of the underpass as also been revamped giving them access to all sides of their underpass end. Not as useful as the CT's end but when on a weaker team that requires to base camp this new map feature helps a lot in controlling the T's spawn area.

Known in Counter-Strike as the 'AWP' the magnum sniper rifle is a deadly weapon with it's high powered shots it will kill any one in 1 single shot. Most newbie players will moan like f#@k about 'AWPers' (players who use the sniper) but don't let that put you off using it. The AWP does require a high level of skill when using it in a attacking role & when under pressure. The smart way of using the AWP would be to offer support and cover for your team, camping at key parts through out the map and picking off targets. Doing this all the time can brand you as a camper so I find it nice to also rush with the AWP. It can be stupid and leaves you very open to attack but it will greatly improve your reaction times & aim so you will benifit from doing so. When using the AWP it's a good idea to back it up with a decent side arm. Most AWP players will buy the 'degeal' as their backup side arm. The key skills for using the AWP and not getting owned in the first 3 minutes are position, aim, sound & quick weapon switching. Use you sound to located targets that maybe sneaking around the back. Position yourself out of danger don't go running into the open unless you know it's clear. Switch weapons when moving and between loading/zooming out. Finally the aim, never take a shot when moving you wont hit a thing that way. You must remain still when taking a shot and it's better to take some damage and getting the shot off right than if you keep moving to reduce damage and no hit anything. A good tip with taking a shot is to jump out and as you are flying through the air line up your crosshair, zoom in, when you land go into complete duct mode and then take shot. All happens within seconds but you'll get use to it in time. One rule when going head to head with another AWP player. If he sees you never and I mean never return to the same spot or pop your head slowly around the same corner. You would be better off jumping out and taking the shot as chances are the other player is marking the corner ready to pop you one.
