The new Campus Gamers website is up and I made the link available on the main page. It's more like a forum board and just discuss about games, events, and other such deals.

Also, if you guys don't know, we are holding a 24-Hour Gaming Marathon on the 20th of October. This will be a charity event called Extra Life and we will donate all proceeds to the Children's Miracle Network in Bakersfield to help kids get that extra life in life. Here's the detailed version from the Facebook event page:



"Part of the Children's Miracle Network, this will be Campus Gamers' first large charitable fundraising effort. All funds raised will go toward the Lauren Small Children's Medical Center at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital.

EXTRA LIFE is a 24-hour gaming marathon. Campus Gamers' Extra Life event will last twelve hours. It will be held in the CSUB Student Union on Saturday, October 20th from 10 AM to 10 PM.

SIGN UP ASAP! You can sign up for free, OR you can register for $15.00. If you do the $15.00 registration and you hit $200 in donations, you will get an official Extra Life t-shirt and other goodies.

Highlights include:

Board and card games in the Blue and Green rooms.
Console video games in the Student Lounge.
PC LAN party in the Roost.
A Persona 4 Arena tournament with prizes supplied by Atlus.
A Fruit Ninja Kinect tournament with prizes supplied by Halfbrick.
A Marvel vs. Capcom Origins tournament with prizes supplied by Capcom.
A Dance Central 3 tournament with prizes supplied by Harmonix.
A silent auction to raise funds for CMN, including an awesome gift pack supplied by PopCap Games and swag from Sega, Naughty Dog and other companies present at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX PRIME).

We will be creating a "volunteer list" and a "loaner list" for people to work the event in shifts, and for members to donate the use of their game items.

IMPORTANT: Game systems will be hooked up and ready to play. Attendees MUST have a valid government ID (drivers license or ID) in order to check out games. IDs will be returned when the game is returned. Attendees are welcome to bring their own games (video or otherwise) to share, but they must check them in so that we can verify when they leave that they're leaving with their proper owners."

Due to some conflicts within the club, Holland has decided to temporarily close A.C.T.I.V.E. until further notice.

It disappoints not only me, but the entire club to find out that we found a member in our A.C.T.I.V.E. community that has been cheating to win the competition for March. His/her name is currently being withheld.

It was announced yesterday during Campus Gamers' last meeting of the quarter when Holland McGill made an up-to-date report on A.C.T.I.V.E. He stated that one of our members had somehow unlocked every possible achievements for a certain game within just one second. It was clear to everyones' minds that it is virtually impossible to unlock all of the achievements for this game in a second. To be specific, the game that I'm talking about is none other than Team Fortress 2 and, yes, it was on Steam. Did this person do this on purpose? Did this person "accidentally" went into the wrong server? Who knows.

It's common sense among online players that hacking is cheating and thus leads to a variety of punishments depending on the game. So, guys don't be an assh****. Play fair because there are other people trying to compete and are working hard to earn those achievements. There's no point of competing if someone's cheating.

TL;DR Play fair and don't cheat.

Earlier today, our Game Coordinator Holland McGill (aka Darke, the Mind Sculptor) announced the games for the month of March. The games to be played this month are as followed: Castlevsnia Lord of Shadow (only on PS3 and Xbox 360), Batman: Arkham City (multi-platform), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (multi-platform), Team Fortress 2 (PC only and it will be ongoing throughtout the next few months), and Portal 2 (multi-platform), Unlock the most achievements/trophies for these games and to win an awesome prize at the end of the month (prizes can vary: PS Vita, Gift Card, Gas Voucher, and etc.). Also, each of these games have 2 unlockable achievements that count for 3x of the original score. Here are the achievements that count for 3x the score:

Castlevania: Lord of Shadow
-Trials: Chapter 1 (Complete all of the trials for Chapter 1)
-Trials: Chapter 2 (Complete all of the trials for Chapter 2)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
-Strike! (Kill 5 enemies with a single grenade in Special Ops or Single Player)
-Kill Box (Kill 20 enemies with the Chopper Gunner in a single run on "Return to Sender)

Portal 2
-Overclocker (Complete Test Chamber 10 in 70 seconds)
-Smash TV (Break 11 Test Chamber monitors)

Batman Arkham CIty
-Gotham Base Jumper (Jump off the tallest building in Arkham City and glade for 1 minute without touching the ground)
-Genius (Rescue all of the hostages from RIddler)

Team Fortress 2
-May I Cut In? (Backstab an enemy and the medic healing him within 10 seconds of each other)
-Trade Secrets (Kill 20 players carrying the intelligence)

If you already have these achievements, they would not count towards the month's progress, You just have to keep earning other achievements. So, that said. What are we waiting for? Let's get out there and play!
