I just thought I'd say "Hi..."

I also just thought I'd post some tips to make your games run a bit faster, in particular games like Garry's Mod and TF2.

1. Turn your graphics down. That's pretty obvious.
2. Play in a window, but don't shrink things down. For example, if your screen is 1084x720, don't run the game in a 800x600 window.
3. You can specify various commands in the Launch Properties of a game to make it run faster. You can access this by right-clicking a game in your library, selecting Properties, then clicking on Launch Options. In this you can type the following:
-safe (forces the game to use the lowest possible settings for your computer)
-nosound (removes sound from the game)
-dxlevel 81 (Specifies a lower DX level, which requires less power)
+mat_forcehardwaresync 0 (Does something or other, I'm not sure, but it helps...)
-window (makes the game run in a window)
-novid (makes the Valve opening video not play)
+mat_picmip # (Adjusts texture detail where # is 0 for high, 1 is medium, and 2 for low)
4. Close any unneccessary programs. Skype, Windows Live Messenger, internet browsers, anything you don't need open ought to be closed. My computer may be good enough to run TF2 and Photoshop at the same time, but not everyone's the same.
