Hey everyone! I know the group is only a day old, but so far I have learned some good things about you, the members, interacting with each other. So if you have met anyone from this group or talked with anyone about your personal struggles and they listened well or helped you, please mention it here!

I may have something special in mind for people who are going above and beyond to make sure there is a good atmosphere when they play with others.

So, many of you may be wondering who I am and why it is I started this group. Well, there was a thread on the CSGO subreddit that sparked my interest in helping gamers who suffer from depression, suicidial tendencies, or other mental illnesses. This type of help isn't going to be medical or psychiatric, but friendly and positive.

As a forewarning, I sincerely recommend getting professional help if you have had a long series of depression or have seriously thought about causing harm to yourself or others.

This post is an introduction to myself and why it is I decided to start this here and now:

My name is Josh, and I live in the midwest of North America. I'm 25 years old, and I have battled with severe depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and potential acts, as well as abuse. I went through my hardest times being alone, for the most part. More recently, I have lived in the monotony of a full-time job and a basic home life.

My first real encounter with the tragedy of depression was when one of my good friends slit his wrists the night of his 15th birthday. It was myself and two of our other good friends all playing Xbox, eating party foods like pizza, ice-cream, soda, and binging on Halo 2v2. My friend, let's call him "John", had to go to the bathroom after a few sodas back-to-back. We decided to take a timeout and all refill our plates with food in the meantime. Twenty minutes later, John still isn't back.

It wasn't until it was already too late that we discovered him. His Mom went to go check on him to make sure he was okay when she noticed some red on the floor by the bottom of the door. She was able to walk right in and see her son's limp body on the floor. He had left the door unlocked on purpose so we would eventually see what he had done to himself.

There was no note, no hint or trace of depression on his face any day that we were at school or that night at the party. Nothing we could think of after the fact would help us put our minds at ease that we could have helped him.

To this day, I still have the occasional nightmare of seeing the blood and my friend there without life in his eyes. This group is an attempt to halt any of those feelings that should never happen to anyone, for any reason. There is always a way out of your troubles, and suicide is the hardest. Not only on yourself, but the ones who care for you.

I now live in a happy home with a loving girlfriend, a couple of pets, and I have started my own business. I hope to be successful by working hard and creating a positive environment both within my home and within my venture. Not everyone will be the same, but if I can change things around, you can too.

Moving forward, I want everyone in this group to help anyone who needs it. And if you need support for yourself, don't be afraid to reach out to anyone here. This is why the group is here.

The reason this group exists is to maintain a sense of honorable and emotional support to those unstable with their current situations. That being said, I would like anyone who is either being harassed or ridiculed by another member(s) to come forth and say so, so we can stop this behavior in its tracks. Don't be afraid to be the bigger person and walk away.

Myself and the other Mods won't always be here to watch everything, since this is just the beginning. If you are in a game with other members and notice someone harassing or ridiculing another person's story or gameplay, step up and defend them. Make them feel at ease when they play, that they can count on you and this group to provide a positive environment.
