"Detachment 731" - a special detachment of the Japanese armed forces, engaged in research in the field of biological weapons, experiments were carried out on living people (prisoners of war, abducted). In this detachment, inhuman experiments were also carried out in order to establish the amount of time that a person can live under the influence of various factors (drying out, deprivation of food, deprivation of water, frostbite, exposure to boiling water, electric shock, vivisection, and others). Often the victims were sent to the detachment together with family members; there were also many cases when members of the victim's family were taken into the detachment (as test subjects), who tried to find out from the Japanese authorities the fate of the arrested relative.
