So i've been thinking about how to do this for a while now and I have come up with a few rules/systems to get us started for our team vs team game.

Rules/guidelines:

1: Each team starts out with the dev large redship and can claim any astriod they want, to claim an astriod the team must build a beacon on the astriod itself (crashing a ship into it with a beacon on the ship does not count) once claimed the team may then build a base on it. however all astriods are free to be mined whenever and by whoever at anytime. A beacon can be moved at anytime by the team who owns it (like if you first build the beacon out in the open to claim the astriod, then overtime build a base with fortifications inside the astriod, the team can then move their beacon into their base instead of having to have a beacon way out in the open)

2: Teams may not build a beacon and 50 turrets on an astriod to lock it off from the other team, they must build in steps. 1-build a beacon(with power source ether reactor or solar power). 2-build a refinary, assembler, med bay. and then they may build turrets.

This is to limit expansion of the teams (so they can't just claim 3-4 astriods at once and lay down a ton of turrests) and to add stratagy, as soon as you build and power that beacon the other team will see it pop up. you better have brough a gunship or two for defence, otherwise you'll lose your new ground. also this is the most oppertune time for the other team to attack and destroy your efforts to expand.
With these rules it will be a team effort on both sides to achive victory, ether by succesfully defending claiming a new terratory and rights to build another base, or stopping the enemy in their tracks and limiting their expansion.

The objective of each team is to destroy ALL of the other teams beacons to win.

2: there can be more then 2 teams but since we are only 5 people at this time 2 teams is prefreble, if we get more players to join us however we can split into more teams and have a team vs team vs team free for all and so forth.

3: if two opposing team members run into eachother they are always free to attack and kill eachother but full on assults on bases will be limited to certain event days. (this is to prevent inbalence issues of one full team wiping out bases with litle to no resistence from another team who may only have 1 member online at the time due to his team mates being away at work/school/family events and so on.

4: I think we should all be on skype together while we play even tho we are on opposing teams, it would ♥♥♥♥ to never be able to talk/joke with my friends while i play just becuase we aren't on the same team, also it will be usefull for when two opposing players run into eachother, they may want to discuss to call a truce and mine in peace instead of being unable to communicate and being forced to always kill eachother. However during special events like base assults and large scale battles we could split up the chats to teams for the duration of the events so we aren't giving away tactical info to the other teams durring the battles.


There are still a few things we need to figure out tho like.

:Team switching. can people just switch teams whenever they want or should they commit to their first pick team?

:who should host? or maybe we could set up a permanent server that's just on 24/7

:should we limit capturing and claiming new astriods to the battle event days to prevent teams from taking advantage and claiming the whole sector when the other team is away? or maybe make seprate event days so our attention isn't divided between battles and capping?


These are not rules set in stone, just ideas to help keep the game balenced and smooth with minimal frustration (we don't want to end friendships becuase someone blew up a base while the other team was offline or capping all the astriods while they are away) please let me know what you think.
