Poängen är att jag är en ny lärare här, accepterat det faktum att jag är tvåspråkig. Jag talar engelska och svenska och några franska, kommer jag hjälpa till att lära andra hur man utför den här tekniken kallas rollspel på begäran, särskilt för svenskar som antingen inte vill tala engelska eller har lärt sig att det är väldigt bra.

P.S. Jag är tvåspråkig så det betyder min svenska är inte perfekt men det är bra nog, eller hur?

Hello there, My name is Wester but I’m called many things, that isn’t the point.

The point is I’m a new teacher here, accepted for the fact that I’m bilingual. It is I, ColdTooth. I'm sure none of you saw this coming, but I can assure you, I am the new teacher.

I enjoy roleplaying, heck I even like to teach about it. I first started to roleplay 6 years ago, where it was about mercs in TF2. Now, I sit here and roleplay about ponies.

Anyways, I can teach any of you the pure basics of roleplaying, from having a comfortable level so none of you bypass your limits, to the styles of roleplaying in text. Every week or so, I'll post announcements as lessons, such as what to do, and anything you can imagine in the beautiful world of roleplaying.

I'm probably sure you'd like to know about me. I used to be into DnD when my mom introduced it to me, since she played it ever since she was my age, so I decided to take a shot in it. It was a really fun experience, and has taught me more roleplaying than anyone has. Ever since I became a brony in late 2010, I started to think about roleplaying with ponies. I met a guy who would roleplay and teach me a lot about it, so I accepted his teachings, and I still remember most of them.

So, with that being said, I will hang around in the chatroom if anyone has any questions, or you can post them in the comment section of the announcement. Whichever works, I am active in both.

I wasn't able to make it to the event nor was I able to get online fast enough to post the reason as to why I didn't show, but I still would love to know who showed up to Introduction Day.

If you didn't, I'm disappointed, but whatever.

Arguably the most important step in roleplaying, the starter sets up the roleplay and gets things rolling, but not many people look forward to doing the starter. It's awkward, and takes a bit of time and thinking. Unlike most roleplay, it's less about working with and responding to the decisions the other character or characters make, and more about setting the scene as you want it.



There are many ways to start up a roleplay, but every starter needs the following:

• the setting should produce a way for at least two characters to meet. this doesn't have to be obvious,or them meeting.
  
  "The handsome gunslinger sat down at a bar and doffed his hat towards the bar tender for a bottle of ale."
  
  This is a rather simple starter, and leaves room open for another character to interact. Are they the bar tender, who brings the man his alcohol? A citizen of the town who calls out to him about his business? Another stranger, who sits beside him? A law-bringer who calls him out?
  
  however, this is still a simple starter. it's missing a few things.
  
  
• a starter should set up the scene and environment. Use those descriptors!
  
  "The Handsome gunslinger gazed around the dusty, rotting, mining town's saloon, before cutting a way through the tense, suspicious crowd all the way to the bar, where he doffed his hat towards the gorgeous young barmaid for a drink."
  
  this starter still sets up a way for at least two characters to meet, and paints a bit more of the picture! as a bonus, it also covers the next tip!
  
  
• a starter sets the mood!
  
  
• and last but not least, to make the perfect starter, describe your character!
  
  "The handsome gunslinger gazed around the dusty, rotting, mining town's saloon, before making long strides through the tense, suspicious crowd. He sat down at the bar and took his hat off, revealing a short shock of jet black hair, and dark grey eyes - eyes that had seen too much, and felt too little. His messy bangs tilted and hung as he nodded to the young bar maid for the drink, before beginning to knock the dried, caked mud from his precious stetson"
  
  With this, you get a mood and description of the setting, as well as a description of the gunslinger character, but still have a way for at least two people to meet!
  
  
  
  Do I have to do Lengthy Roleplays?
  
  even if you respond one line at a time, always try to make your starters at least three sentences, but don't make it so long that your partner won't read it all the way through!
  
  
  Is there anything else I need to know?
  
  It's polite to provide the starter if you are the one asking for the roleplay! if your partner is otherwise fine with it, then go right ahead, but you should still be kind!

Tabletop Roleplaying is, quite simply put, a roleplay with a system to keep things fair.

There are many components to tabletop gaming.

Firstly, one person does not actually roleplay per se. They act as the "dungeon master".

The dungeon master acts as the RNG system and sets the story. If you walk into a room, the dm will describe it for you. If you talk to someone, the DM is their voice. Etc. Etc.

The dungeon master's goal in the game is neither to hinder nor to help the players, but to challenge them and produce an exciting story.

Then there are the players, who play as characters. Many systems use classes, which have diverse abilities that focus on different aspects of gameplay.

Examples of classes include

• Bards - Bards are most often musicians who travel the world, spreading song. As a bard's magic is based on its Charisma and ability to perform, bards are often what is called the "face" of the party. The face is the class which deals with NPC (Non-Player Character) interractions.
  
  
• Fighters - Fighters do as their names imply. They fight. They often use Strength and Constitution (toughness) to get the job done, but can use Dexterity if they choose to fight from range
  
  
• Wizards - Wizards are the stereotypical spell caster, known to turn the battlefield on its ass with their bombardments of magic.
  
  
  What type of settings are there?
  
  There are various settings with different playstyles that already exist, such as psychological horror (examples: World of Darkness, Call of Cthulhu) Cyberpunk (Shadowrun, Paranoia) Fantasy (Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Shadowrun) Steampunk (Pathfinder) as well as more specified settings such as Warhammer 40,000 (Dark Crusade, Dark Heresy, Space Hulk, Rogue Trader) and even My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (My Little Pony: Roleplaying is Magic, Ponyfinder, Fallout: Equestria)
  
  Even if none of these tickle your fancy, there are more and more settings, systems, and stories being published each day!
  
  
  Where should I get started?
  
  In my personal opinion, the easiest system to get used to is Pathfinder [d20pfsrd.com], as it's one of the more simplified systems, and has a handy set of online resources.
