Quakeworld Threewave CTF on Steam!

This Steam group is designed to bring together players that still love to play Quakeworld Threewave Capture the Flag, like the good old days.

Objectives of this group:
1) Build up a pool of players that wish to play QWCTF on a regular basis
2) Have our own dedicated server to play on
3) Have regularly scheduled QWCTF events

Target Audience:
Those players that used to play QWCTF in the hayday of Quake 1. Although, those wishing to get in on what happened back then are welcome as well.

Misc note: This group will focus on Quakeworld server play. Netquake users are welcome, but this group focuses on Quakeworld.

The first step of this group is to build up members that would like to play on a regular basis. Until the membership number is high enough for CTF games, this group will be slow. Thus, I encourage all to invite friends that you know that used to play and like QWCTF. Once we have that player basis for regular games, the group will pick up.

Since Steam already has a huge gamer base and built in message/friends system it is an ideal place to make this serious and honest attempt to bring back a lively QW CTF player base.

Anyone for Co-Op sometime?

If anyone wants to do a run through the main episodes in Co-Op sometime, let me know. You must be willing to use a mic, and hosting will be in USA, east coast.
Doesn't have to be now, or all in one run, just casually when ever.

So there has been a few comments asking how to get started into this or what clients to use, so I would like to recommend people to use EzQuake, because as the name suggest it is very easy to use. But it also works on modern OSes and has a lot of nice features while still keeping as close to the original Quake as possible. It also has a built in server browser.

You will also need the Threewave CTF files, which there are two:

CTF files Download [www.quaketerminus.com]

You want to DL the 3.01 and 4.0 client files, then put them into a new directory which should be called: "CTF"

So the directory should be quake/ctf

Unzip both files into that directory and then start EzQuake. Server information will be coming soon.

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone is still around, I've tried friending everyone on the thread. Big news is that Quakeworld is pretty active these days -- nightly events for TDM 2v2, 4v4, FFA, Clan Arena...and Thursday...QUAKEWORLD CTF! We actually have a good amount of folks join, including some nice 6v6s on THE WARZONE CTF2M2. Good times. Also, some of you folks asking about Blood Dog -- yes he still actively plays Quake although he is more of a DM player now. He would show up for CTF if we ask though :)
