Noob Ensemble - Because having fun is what's important.

Dear fellow Noobs in arms!

In January 2015, I founded this “clan” while I was traveling on a cruise ship on its way Sweden. The clan was to consist of my friends and mainly those playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Insurgency. My naïve dream was to start a clan that one day would become a place where people who just want to play games for fun and chit-chat about nothing and everything could meet and relax. Never did I really believe that it would actually grow into something more than just my friends and perhaps some random dude that I would catch in a game of Insurgency. Never did I imagine, not at the time at least, that I could start something that would actually bring people together and also bring various nationalities together.

But here we are: soon-to-be 3 years later. Grown from a small group of Turku-based students into a large international band of gamers, covering no less than 8 different countries. It has been an amazing experience to meet, recruit and getting to know you all. This clan would not be anything without you! And the best thing, is that you all get along. During the first two years or so, it really felt like people did not get together if I personally did not participate as a glue-like substance. But now, this clan has grown into a more or less autonomous machine that keeps rolling no matter what – even when its leader falters and makes moronic mistakes and errors.

Thus, I want reach out to every single member, recruit (and even friends of the clan) to thank you all for being here – for creating this amazing community of gamers who just get together to game and talk about nothing and everything. Thank you all! Without awesome people like you, the clan would not exist! You are the very life blood of this community.

But this clan would not function without the amazing job of the clan officers – the board (yes, we do have a board): ScreaminTurtle, Rand, Iceman and Papanurgle. Whilst the clan members are the life blood of the clan, you are the heart, brain, muscles and guts that keep this machinery going. Over the years you have made sure innovations were made, problems were solved and that a good spirit can be found in every corner of this clan. Thank you so much for your help, opinions and support!

I also want to give a special thanks to ScreaminTurtle, who has shown an extraordinary amount of loyalty and effort in keeping this clan together and actually working. Apart from his assigned role as a recruitment officer, a task which he has fulfilled with excellence, he has made sure to organize events and building up an event structure in this clan. With that in mind, I now quote the criteria description for the U.S. Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor: “FOR EXTRAORDINARY VALOR ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY”. While “valor” might be a bit exaggerated, ScreaminTurtle surely has shown enthusiasm and goodwill for the clan “above and beyond the call of duty”. This is why I symbolically want to award ScreaminTurtle with the very imaginary (but in my heart very real) NoE Medal of Valor for his excellent work the past year (sozzle, we haz no moneyz for real medals).

Finally, I once more want to thank everyone of you and wish you all a happy new year! Let us all now work together to make 2018 an even more amazing year!
