"Payload, King of the Hill, Attack and Defend and 5 Capture Point maps are all used. Ranging from Badwater to Viaduct, from Gravelpit to Granary highlander teams can really take advantage of these maps and bring a really competitive game onto them. Maps like Badwater are largely open and require different team play than other, more closed in maps such as Goldrush, where the choke points are much tighter. Take this into account when placing sentries or defensive lines, as it could alter the outcome of a match greatly. Be sure to know every map before jumping into it in a competitive environment.
