I threw a bunch of crap into the Horadric Cube, and out popped this months game:

My first experience with Diablo 2 was being rushed through normal by my cs/tfc clan - who then left me to give up and create a new character because level 12 in nightmare was a joke.

We will ideally be playing with the Lord of Destruction expansion pack (because we can't just stop with defeating Diablo and Mephisto, right?).

Additionally, because its not 2001 anymore, I highly encourage the use of the unofficial high resolution patch, however, this comes with the cost of not being able to play on battlenet (in all fairness though, we can play multiplayer by creating a single player character and using hamachi or something to play across lan)

Because Diablo 2 is quite old, and a lot of people have probably played it to death, there is an added restriction for any experienced players - you must play with a differenct class/build than your standard goto build. So if like me you typically go Necromancer and min/max your skillpoints to be that annoying skelemancer, you must shake it up and be a barb or something.

Steven has chosen the "often divisive between fans of the genre, Final Fantasy VII" for this month's game.

Available on Steam or on the original PSX version via the brilliant epsxe, I will be posting the emulator settings I use later in the week

Hi Folks

For this months game I've gone for the rather good 2005 first person horror, Condemned, criminal Origins.

The plot centres around a FBI agent Ethan Thomas in the fictional American city of metro, where his pursuit of a certain serial killer takes you through a series of very grim, dank derelict areas.

Loved this game as it had a great balance between the whole combat element with the games psychotic and freakish inhabitants and the tension of navigating your way through some scary as hell environments.

It does have a bit of a cheesy plot and the games 'crime scene investigations' feature does grate a little but overall this really was a great game and for me, one of the better offerings within the horror genre over the last few years

Its about a tenner on steam and you can quite easily pick up the 360 version for less than a fiver pretty much anywhere.

Eternal Darkness is a criminally overlooked survival horror from 2002. It was released on the GameCube with little fan-fare and has never been ported or had a sequel.

The plot revolves around a young lady named Alexandra Roivas, investigating the death of her grand father and leads to much time traveling antics and fighting the forces of darkness.

The big innovation in the game comes from the "Sanity meter", the more unnerved the character, the more off things start to happen, I won't spoil it for you though!

I love this game, I gate crashed my house mate's bedroom at uni to play it for hours on end, it has an engaging story and good game play and I think that it deserves to be played, especially since Silicon Knights are unlikely to ever make a sequel due to legal issues with Epic games.

Also, its made in Canada!

Obviously, if you have a GameCube you can get hold of the original game (it goes for between 10 and 15 quid on ebay) but I have also briefly tested it on Dolphin and it seems to work pretty much perfectly, I will post instructions on the forums
