The association of 420 with weed comes from the address of the inventor of weed, James Stoner, who lived at 420 Baker St. in Victorian London. He was the son of Herbert and Mary Jane Stoner. His father was a blunt, dispassionate man which lead to the divorce of his parents. Much to his dismay, they maintained joint custody of James, forcing him to live half the time with the father he had little love for. Much of his time was spent in the dimly lit, dank basement of 420 Baker St. indulging in his hobby of amateur botany. He experimented with combining various subspecies of oregano and growing them with his own experimental hydroponic technique. One summer he created a particularly aromatic strain using Jamaican oregano which he named Oreganja. He distributed samples to his friends in the culinary industry and soon had demands for his new herb by the pot full. He was also approached by many entrepreneurs offering to take his new method to an industrial scale. James was hesitant however, and delayed partnership until he could weed out the unscrupulous businessmen from the sincere. In the mean time he attempted to expand his own operation to keep up with demand. One night while wiring more lights in the basement of 420 Baker St. a live wire accidentally came loose and ignited a bundle of sticks from dried up oregano plants. James Stoner died that night as a 3-alarm blaze consumed his childhood home. It was on this day that the true majesty of his invention was realized as everyone in a 2 block radius was engulfed in the biggest cloud of puff-puff-pass that has ever existed in what was the first 420 blaze it ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

It is a common misconception that 420 originated from smoking weed at 4:20 pm. Any true sconer should know that weed is not meant to be enjoyed at a single time but should instead be burnin 24 hours a day.
