Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots came and we played. Then our own Scottish nobleman Mark Serrels came, and we went dang man, WTF?! Yes there is no greater Kojima fanboy than gameplayer’s Mr. Serrels who holds as his three fondest moments in life getting married, killing The End and seeing Kojima’s wang in the dunnies at a Konami press trip in late 2007 in support of MGS4.

The man keeps in contact with the friends he made on that trip, including a member of Kojima’s staff, who has just dropped him an email saying that the famous developer is about to make a big announcement in “T minus 3 days and counting” with regards to a new project.

What could it be? Zone of Enders 3? Snatcher Reborn? Metal Gear Solid vs. NWO World Tour? Speculate your respective butts off in the comments below and be sure to watch this space for info as soon as it drops. For the record, we’re guessing a repackaged Metal Gear Solid 4, possibly in the vein of Subsistence. But for ♥♥♥♥♥ ‘n’ giggles we’re saying MGS4 for Xbox 360!

Now wouldn’t that turns some heads!

A videogame with shagging in it draw the attention of two types of people; horny yahoos, and sensationalist media types. We won't berate the first group, because it is a great unwashed mob that we ourselves happen to belong to – let's call a spade a spade. The latter group however are much more deserved of abuse; as they're usually non-gamers who hunt down in-game nookie purely to make a mountain out of a molehill - to beat-up some interest.

In this regard, they are not so far removed from the first group.

Nobody knows sensationalist media back-lash better than BioWare, whose last RPG extravaganza, Mass Effect, featured a striking scene of digital lovemaking. Soon after that games release, Fox News reported that the Microsoft “Se’Xbox” had a new game called Mass Effect and it showed “full digital nudity and sex”. Continuing the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ artistry, that very same media network then had a round-table discussion, during which one of the panellists described the game as “Luke Skywalker meets ‘Debbie Does Dallas.’”

Funny. That’s not how we remembered it. Sure, there was naked blue-skinned butt and some deep space lesbianism - but we don’t remember Mass Effect featuring a plucky young Jedi making a trench run on some cheerleaders. It could be high time for a replay...

Other than a suitably cranky response to Fox News by EA, (current owners of BioWare) we never really heard any response from BioWare themselves. Were they pissed off when their masterful RPG experience was wrongfully labelled as an inter-species space orgy in a porn studio far, far away? Or did the controversy make them recognise a newfound formula for success: Media + Sex cutscene = Notorious R.P.G. = a Motza?

All I know about BOB [Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust] is what I've read online. VU (and later Activision, Team 17 and Codemasters) did not consult me nor discuss anything about this game with me. In fact, they've expressed no interest in me whatsoever!," Al Lowe, the original creator of Leisure Suit Larry wrote on his blog. "For a while, I hoped that they would remember to send me a review copy. Now that the reviews are in, it's just as well that they didn't!"

Al noted that the game's Executive Producer, John Melchior, wanted to make a game that "Al Lowe would like to play." "I wonder why he didn't just ask me?," Al Lowe commented.

Lowe noted the game's MetaCritic's average score of 28%, then he quoted several reviews.

"you will want to use heavy machinery to crush everyone involved in its creation, from the person responsible for drawing Larry's hateful face to the person who put the staples in the manuals," reads EuroGamer's review. "hateful, toss, stupid, tedious, terrible, dreadful, pathetic. That about sums it up, but just to be clear: do not buy this game. You will not only want your money back, you will want reimbursement for the electricity consumed by your Xbox 360 in the six minutes it took to realise you had made a horrible mistake." EuroGamer gave the game a score of 2 of 10.

In the end, Al Lowe thanked VU Games "for keeping me completely away from this latest disaster!

Eidos' Batman: Arkham Asylum seems like it has the potential to be great, especially for a game starring the Dark Knight. Fortunately, even if the game ends up being total garbage, the collector's edition looks like it'll be bursting at the seams with enough goodies to make it worthwhile for comic fans.

Confirming earlier rumors, the $100 version of Arkham Asylum will include a 14" replica Batarang modeled after the weapon from the game. Also lined up for the bundle are an Arkham doctor's 48-page, leather-jacketed journal detailing some of the Asylum's more criminally insane residents, as well as a behind the scenes DVD, and a code to download the exclusive "Crime Alley" challenge map.

Not a bad haul, if you ask us. And if the Arkham Asylum game doesn't meet your expectations, that Batarang should come in mighty handy.

Ubisoft has been teasing the sequel to Assassin's Creed lately, but it won't be long before we have the first concrete details, courtesy of the magazine Game Informer.

Assassin's Creed II is their upcoming cover story, which the magazine promises will reveal the first information on "a new hero for a new time" -- whatever that means.
