OM Australian L4D2 Uncensor

Uncensoring the Australian Version of Left 4 Dead 2

I've created this group just to inform players how to uncensor there L4D2 game (not sure if works on the steam bought copies) please invited all your friends that own the game

Uncensoring:
Quick easy process that does no harm to the game its self.
First: go to your steam folder

To uncensor we need to change 2 files:

1st File Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\steam_appid.txt
there should be the number 550. Change it to 510, Save & Exit.

2nd File Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\steam.inf
Third line of text should be appID=550 , Change to appID=510

Last Step Create a shortcut with the .exe in the main L4D2 folder and run only off that shortcut (you need steam active, but the you won't be able to play any games if you start the game with steam). Now start the game and in the option turn gore to high.

Enjoy!

Pro's:
- Gore
- Gore
- oh and Gore

Con's:
- Reduced player numbers depending on how many people uncensor thier game.
- Having to redo the change every patch

Just thought I'd say, Valve put out a patch for the gore on steam. It's a free dlc found on the L4D2 store page on steam. Just dl it and go, and no messing around with files. :dsmagic:

I've had really good results with Left 4 Gore, even on the beta linux version

Everytime I start playing (Means that I click "Start playing as ****") in a game, means I can even spectate and see the gore, but when I take controll over the bot (Even if it's my own server) I get the message ; "Server is enforcing consistency for this file: left4dead2/steam.inf"
After it kicks me out.... what to do? D:

I tried changing the values anyway (from 223530 to 510), but after staying on the loading screen for a million years it dumped me out with the same error, saying that steam isn't running.

I'm having a little problem with mine (linux beta version)
I can change the .inf file alright, but I can't seem to open the steam_appid.txt file properly - my usual text editor (gedit) doesn't recognize the encoding. (It's a flipping text file! It shouldn't be so hard!)

I've also tried with different text editors with slightly better success. Nothing gives me the number 550 but rather 223530, and one text editor follows this up with a "#", the other with that little square a lot of text editors use for symbols they can't read.

Any ideas?
