You shed a tear, pat your son on the head, and manage a small grin on your face. As your son sits there confused, you finally find it in yourself to let him know what's on your mind.

"Son, that is the greatest friend any man could have. I hope one day you will forge a friendship as strong as the one I did that fateful summer. Yet at the same time, realize that nothing lasts forever, and like the seasons changing, even friendships like these will fade to nothing."

You turn to him and smile once more, before leaving the room. Your son however, still sat there confused, realizing that you completely skipped the question he asked about why you got destroyed, before coming to the conclusion that you are just complete ♥♥♥♥. There he was, a man cloaked in black. Peering from his plate helm were familiar eyes; what were once crimson and so glorious, now merely dull and fading, as if signifying the end of an illustrious man.

Staring out of my window, It was a chilly winter night as usual, but this time around, a familiar being stood out there - one I had not seen in so long.

I remember it like it was yesterday...the forging of the weapon, the celebration that followed, and the aftermath of it all. It happened in the blink of an eye, like the transition from fall to winter. Praises and envy had turned into hatred and anger.

Perhaps he had a reason for it all, perhaps he was tired of being idolized by his peers, but in the end, none of it mattered to any of my comrades. He had betrayed the trust of them all in their eyes, and would forever have to be held accountable for his actions.

I had faith in him however, faith that he did what he felt was right. Though I did not imagine I would ever see him again.

What then, do I make of this person in front of me? Perhaps I was tired from the cold night and was hallucinating, but what I saw in front of me gave me mixed feelings. Who was this man who stood before me? The glorious man I once knew, or merely a shadow of his former self, created from false hope on my end. I would find out soon enough.
