ÜBER Pubbers VS Pros Hopefuls

Sign up for the 6v9!

Here's how we select our pubstars:

1. We first check if you have a mic. This is a HUGE deciding factor and if you are embarrassed of your voice, you will probably be even more embarrassed when the Steam Forums pick your every gameplay move apart. You actually have to download mumble and say something, and then that'll be that.

2. We check your profile. We really don't want hackers or competitive players playing in the event. It ruins the point of the event completely, which is to introduce public players into the competitive scene, and to spark interest in Source TV spectators in the competitive scene as well.

3. Once we get a group of 18 tryouts (this will take a little while in the beginning but once we unveil our surprise this should fill out quite fast) we'll try them out via highlander lobbies on tf2lobby.com. If you don't know how to use the website, we'll walk you through it through announcements.
The way this works is we put you on a highlander team as the class you signed up as (only one class please) and we expect you to show up on the scheduled date. This should work out fairly well. You must use mumble to communicate, since ingame chat is unreliable. We'll also get a tutorial up for installing that program.
We can also try you out different ways. The point I'm trying to make is that you should be a pubstar, and this is the easiest way of telling.

4. Once we've narrowed down the pool of hopefuls, we'll be doing some magical selecting of our own, choosing the starters first and then the substitutes. This will all be done while signups are still going on, which means that practice sessions can be set up earlier.

Note that your team can still vote to kick you anyways if you end up being a colossal ♥♥♥♥ - however, we intend to catch that first.

To recapitulate:
1. Have a mic.
2. Don't be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
3. Be somewhat good at TF2 as a pubstar.
4. Show up to the game itself and show up to practices.

This may all seem like defeating the point of just having random pubstars signing up but to be honest, if I were to just pick the first 9 people that signed up, they would get absolutely smashed and never want to pick up TF2 again. Likewise, if I just picked up the best TF2 pubstars I've ever laid eyes upon, spectators wouldn't be as interested since they most likely are already competitive players. However, if you show a genuine interest in learning the basics of competitive TF2 and want to actively play in this game and make for an enjoyable game to watch for the Source TV spectators, chances are you'll probably get chosen.

TLDR: Smack yourself on the forehead and go read the full thing.

INFO:

Mumble info is here: http://eoreality.net/events (go to the mumblecast)

We'll post the tryout info and teams in announcements so check back frequently to see if you're getting tested. We'll also message you.
