the 171st Combat Brigade is a MilSim unit/community founded by veteran Arma series players playing since 2003 (Operation Flashpoint) and lead by individuals that have been on the realism unit scene since 2008 (with some 16 years of experience between).

While the group focuses on organized and realism play - we aim to create and provide an community for which to casually interact with each other outside of the game environment as well. The community formed here wishes to bridge to other games and interests of individuals as well, but at its core - we aim to provide the high standard and format of gameplay that our unit/community members expect and enjoy.
Leadership in this unit is built on the qualities and commitment of the individuals leading rather than seniority.

In our recruits, we're looking for those who genuinely want a realism experience, an aspiring military academic or a genuine interest or desire to learn (ergo, TL;DR beware). As we focus on imparting and putting to practice knowledge both applicable in-game and some real world information as well.

"Hard to learn - Hard to Master" - is the preferred route for this unit.

What you can expect from gameplay with us.
The 171st Combat Brigade members enjoy various mission and game types, ranging from a finely custom crafted and persistent Campaign custom written by leadership either in Dynamic Custom Missions with scripting to controlled and moderate Zeus games (we don't see Players vs Zeus as a thing - rather the Zeus acts as a custodian of the mission), to TvT matches organized between other Realism units with similar game-play desires.
Apart from our dedicated realism campaigns and such, we also occasionally run off-topic events that we all enjoy just to blow off steam occasionally and prevent ourselves from burning out from doing the same thing over and over.
