I beat it on easy unlock characters up to kitty when I close reopen the game characters I unlocked are no longer uplocked,this game save at all?

1. What do level ups do? 2. Why do only some stages end with a power up option and others dont? Is this what level ups effect? 3. How are more power ups unlocked? I can see a ton more to unlock on main screen? Is it just by beating the game?

Dear Developer, this is a really great game! I'm finding that the white dots that appear when you destroy an enemy add unnecessary clutter to the already large number of objects on the screen, and does not significantly add to the gameplay. They are very distracting. Conscious effort is wasted trying to ignore them, especially when they are flying toward the protagonist. Please consider adding an option to play without these obnoxious white dots....

I'm not sure if the online leaderboard support for the game was shut down, but I recently got a high score and was curious to see what rank I was out of all players. Every time I die in Champions mode, the leaderboard doesn't show up, and says "no connection." I asked a friend to load up the game and check for himself, and the same thing happened. Our internet connections were both fine and all game files were verified. I would just like to confirm whether this is a bug or it was intentional....
