I saw the option where I could ask them to bring me an item and later some request arise where I need to give that same villager something and I've llok around in all the possible places and cannot find them anywhere. What Can I do? Is there any way to find them? The don't appear in the minimap....

I have 4 villagers already and I have 3 homes built for new visitors..I invited 3 from Oma's Inn and its been days and no one has come. Do I need to keep going farther in the game to progress? I thought if I had homes built and invited them it would be a day or 2 in game time. Am I missing something?...
