Just over a month ago, we announced we’d be tackling adding multiplayer to our voxel-based “slice anything with a laser sword” Early Access game Clone Drone in the Danger Zone—and to learn the principles of multiplayer game development, we’d first create a simple test game.

Instead of throwing the prototype away, we decided to quickly publish it for free on Steam!

Less than a month of development later, & two weeks after launch, Long Live Santa! has now been installed by over 100,000 players??

We released a teeny tiny update last week, which should hopefully help with (1) the F button sometimes not registering for picking things up and (2) failure to join games should now display an error message instead of... crashing the entire game.

Thanks so much to everyone for sharing your ideas for the game, bug reports, & breakdowns of hacks/cheats -- keep em coming! To be honest, we are a little bummed we can’t spend more time fleshing Long Live Santa out... it’s hard to resist the urge to keep iterating indefinitely. We’ve had a ton of fun playing LLS ourselves, & see as much potential in the game as many of you do.

Perhaps we will get a chance to iterate more on Long Live Santa next Christmas (or “Christmas in July”)? In the meantime, we have no plans to stop the Santa-punching-party prematurely, so keep sleighin’, friends!


This month we start designing and building Clone Drone’s multiplayer integration, using what we learned from the good and bad parts of Long Live Santa to make it amazing.


While you may have swung a sword or two in LLS, Clone Drone in the Danger Zone’s laser sword is a skill-heavy weapon takes practice to master.

Now while we’re busy working on adding multiplayer, it’s not a bad idea to start training with Clone Drone’s single-player Story, Challenge, Endless, and Twitch Modes.
