YES. You can still drop Steam items

Here is my research

Suggestion: Always have your Awesome Metal Detecting inventory tab opened in the Steam client. For some reasons, it drops more. If you have 0 coins and don't see the game inventory, just buy one of the cheapest coin in the community market. Steam Drop Rate 1-3 Drops / 3-5 Minutes (Unconfirmed) No drop limit (Confirmed)
