Game crashes after start. Any ideas how to fix it?

After all those years, I came back and thought "I'll accept this challenge." I couldn't come first on every track because it's nigh-impossible on higher difficulties but I got the gold in every cup... with Evac, the worst car in the game. Yay.

Can someone make a remake of this game ?

The game would get hung up and the only way out is closing it through the task manager. I lost 2 championship clears to this already. At first I validated my files (which btw cleared ALL my progress, no thanks to lack of Steam cloud). It reacquired 1 file. But then the same thing happened again. I can't finish a ch.ship like this. I've no idea what happened, the game worked fine before and surely, there weren't any updates....
