I always ignored this game because I thought it was a prototype demo for a cancelled Serious Sam game or something. Turns out it's the First & Second Encounter HDs and BFE all in one game with updates. It's great! Works well on Linux too.

I saw online that most people recommend playing these games through here rather than their standalone versions. I would agree as best I know.

I wish it had the non-HD versions and SS2 as well, but no biggie.

Since the first release of Serious Sam, I've been playing the series. Even Serious Sam: The First Encounter finds its way off my shelf every few years for another run. You could safely say this game is an evergreen classic among dismemberment and mass-horde (co-op) shooters.

Recommendation: Play it in co-op!

However, I still need to find some time this year to dive into it with Pouria and see if we can complete everything together! 🤗 With my busy schedule lately, I feel like I'm drifting away from my beloved Sam. 😔

While the classic versions of TFE and TSE are better than the HD versions, this has workshop support, meaning easy access to levels and mods. Dead enemies have weird physics but that's not a big deal.

I especially enjoyed the mod "Serious Sam BFE: Redux" by SeriousAmaro. It has way better pacing than the original SS3, turning a mediocre experience into a great one.
