Honestly I didn't expect that someday I will buy this game. I didn't like it's cartoon comic style graphics, thought it will get boring and not my kindof games. It was December 2022, I bought several keys on fanatical only to increase my Steam library a little and among them also were two mystery game keys like Christmas gifts. Well, one of them was Borderlands 2. It was holidays time and my friend played it at that time, well I decided to try as well.

First impresions were amazing, some cute little robot which hates stairs, beautiful landscapes of fictional planet, open world and interesting locations, different wild creatures and mad guys called psychos, then my friends joined my game and together it's way more fun <3 I started to love it, and it was so fascinating to immerse deeper, playing as Vault Hunter to search Vault with alien technologies. Game has offroad vehicles which allows to smash everything on your way, after killing minions and creatures you get loot.. more loot. Handsome Jack, yeah one of the best villians I ever met in games, and fits great to humour of game. I like how events are turning in game around Crimson Raiders, in general around the game and every introduction with a new character or villian.
I was satisfied a lot by traveling and discovering Pandora's locations, driving, shooting, looting and all this gets more and more hilarious. I remember when I had to loot Hyperion crates just to get Jenkins guy and it's never gets boring even though it was requiered around 1-2hrs to do that. Even though I got focused to defeat Jack and beat the game, that wasn't end at all. Game has a lot of side quests, too many challenges kinda shoot and loot. Much better to do with friends then the journey lasts longer.

In addition DLCs like Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep with referrence to D&D has a funny story (best one) or Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty "turns" Vault Hunter into Jack Sparrow or Headhunter Pack small DLCs where quests with a single location and each location has special event like Halloween, Christmas, loved the most tropical location from Sir Hammerlock vs. the Son of Crawmerax

Also there are plenty of lengendary and rare loot which possible to get by killing any boss, almost every DLC has at least one, and it's tricky to do alone. However, if you have friends then it's pretty easy to kick his ass, thus experience and credits will be shared between party. Overpower levels with friends is a great way to get an expensive loot and boost your character

This is one of the best shooter looter games I ever played, unforgettable with perfectly done locations, memorable characters and amazing sense of humour <3 It's fun in both ways co-op or solo, with nicely written story and cool soundtrack. If you want to start your Vault Hunter adventures in the first time I'd recommend to start not from bl1 or bl3, but exactly from this one cuz this game is a golden bar in series. It feels like western meets sci fi and Mad Max with vehicular combats in the same time, plus too many randomized loot and action skills variety for every playable character with a long grind. Too bad I discovered this game so late, but happy to be newcomer fan in Borderlands series

Borderlands 2 is a high octane looter-shooter, with a blend of FPS and RPG elements. The Borderlands series is known for its zany, over the top characters and its unique witty humour and this second installment continues the trend. The cel-shaded visuals give the game a comic like feel and the environments are colourful and varied. The sound work is exceptional, everything from the gun effects, character voice lines and rock and roll themes bring this game to life. The variety of loot is overwhelming, and there are infinite variations because the game procedurally generates items based on specific parameters. No two items are ever the same. The story is often outrageous, and continues where the first game left off, with players needing to stop the Hyperion Corporation led by the diabolical antagonist Handsome Jack. A standout feature of Borderlands 2 is that up to 4 players can play together cooperatively. There are both individual and shared loot drops, and difficulty scaling based on the number and character level of players. The experience is generally chaotic and hilarious and is highly recommended to play through with friends. All these previously mentioned features making up Borderlands 2 offer unparalleled replayability. In terms of looter-shooters, there are practically none better than this game.

Still to this day one of, if not the, best Looter Shooter(s) on the market. I'd argue even if it has dated graphics and designs by this point, it still tops Borderlands 3 and other comparable games that even boast being free to play.

Each of the 4 (Six with DLC) classes are fun to play and for the most part can all play up to the maximized difficulties, though I'll say there's one character that I went through some hoops to make better and more in line with the rest, it's not wholly necessary in the short run if you're like a fair few people who enjoy the game that end their run at the end of New Game+

There's still no game that quite gets the bazillionder guns as right as BL2 does, even though borderlands 3 gets more insane with it there's a lot more fluff that people want to filter out when it comes to it, whereas BL2 just gives enough variety per weapon to keep you farming for the legendaries you want for maximum firepower while giving lower rarity weapons that still hit almost as hard thanks to mostly having a few barrels or weapon parts in general to generate.

Arguably the funniest point of the series though personally I like the Borderlands 1 level of grim satire a touch better, there's nobody who gives better "I hate my job" energy than Knoxx. In Borderlands 2 they go much more campy and crude and so much snark from the handsome shmuck himself constantly chiming into any of your defeats or victories, it's scary movie [tm] comedy but with more explosions.


There's a hell of a lot more positives to share about this game, but I think it's better if I don't overshare for this one. It's definitely better in co-op but even solo is a blast and it's a game that had balancing tweaked per player in the lobby with drop in/drop out gameplay. In ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 2012. We need more of that. Anyways solid recommend to get the GOTY edition, I haven't finished a run on PC but console I've logged atleast 300+, do with that what you will.
