When I click the play button on the game, Steam says that it is "running" for no more than two seconds and then stops. The game will not load for me at all. I need help.

is there any way to increase max hp outside of augmenting armor with gems and accesories/ certain uber-mob specific armor? any food i can eat, something like that? im trying to find some info about the game as my playthrough progesses to the 4 planet, im playing very hard - hardcore, so getting beefier would be kinda nice, 50 hp sucks....
