Game keeps freezing on me

I've had some minor freezes throughout the game, but it can usually be fixed/postponed with ctrl+alt+del and just tab backinto the game and unpause, but I'm now on Episode 4, level 2, and it keeps freexing in the very beginning of the level and will not let me fix it in any way other than force-shutting the game down. Happens in both windowed & fullscreen. I tried uninstalling and re-installing and it did nothing. Is there a fix for this?...
