I remember somewhere that your weapon range dictated your viewing range on the battle map. I.e., when you can't see and fire at enemy ships until they come into range. Do the eccm and sensor arrays do anything?

Ok here's another question: Do any of the weapon/missile/fighter mods matter? It seems like I'm always gravitating towards longer range or stronger weapons as opposed to modding older weapons as we used to do in moo1 and moo2. Anyone have any thoughts on that?...

I just bought Master of Orion 1, 2 and the new Master of Orion. I was about to get Master of Orion 3 for completionist sake but the reviews are really bad. Which has made me rather apprehensive about buying this game. So is it still worth getting. Is it really truly awful or just does not stack up to the other games in the series? Note: Never played any MOO games before....
