I found the User Interface intuitive and easy to use.
The detailed unit Encyclopedia alone is worth the purchase.
The Mission Editor allows for endless replay-ability.
User Mod support is integrated in the Main Menu.
Camera and Time controls allow the player to view incredible cinematic naval engagements that are easily recorded, or screen captured for video creators using software like OBS.

I strongly recommend this game for anyone who is curious about the post-WWII era of technological development and war fighting. Veterans of this era will appreciate the detailed accuracy and performance of the units. This game, this sim, is a monumental achievement to Naval Warfare. Triassic games should be applauded and awarded Game of the Year.

Yes, its early development, but its a great game and a very good simulation. I am having more fun playing this game than any other at least a decade - probably because I served in the U.S. Navy. The ship model rendering is great and brings back many memories - devs- please add CV-41 Midway at some point - she was the tip of the spear in the Western Pacific. The game seems to overpower the Soviets in several ways, but it does a diligent job of modelling the unique and different capabilities of Soviet weapon systems. We were fearful the Soviets were 10 ft tall at the time, and this game exudes that nostalgia for me - although I think we know better now. Many of the ships I serve on or with are in the game - and you have an entire world map to design scenarios from. I served in the Pacific for my entire career, so I like the ability to create scenarios other than the North Atlantic. However, it also needs things like the ability to manually guide wire guided-torpedoes. Overall, very happy with my purchase.

I've had this on my wishlist for a while, and I love naval combat sims, but this is extremely rough right now and the fact that they're asking $45 for it in this state is ridiculous. The main problem with this game is that it lacks the depth and realism of something like CMO, but it lacks the intuitive gameplay and casual fun of something like Wargame. While the graphics for the game itself are fantastic, the actual UI where you'll be spending 90% of your time is extremely dated and clunky. The chart looks and plays like Silent Hunter III, ordering your units to do anything involves layers of tedious drop-down menus, and overall it just feels like I'm constantly fighting the game to get it to do anything rather than working with it.

Which brings up the next issue. Issuing commands (the core aspect of the game) is extremely unfun because of the UI, and it's extremely aggravating because half the time your units will just refuse to carry out assigned orders, with little indication given as to why. Ships will be steaming in a straight line and suddenly decide to veer off 90 degrees and run into a nearby island. Issuing an order to change course is always a gamble because half the time it results in your formation completely falling apart as all the ships scatter in every direction and never rejoin formation properly. Aircraft will often turn and fly directly into a mountainside because it seems to measure altitude above sea level rather than ground. Missiles will often refuse to fire despite saying that they're ready and engaging, again the game gives you no indication as to what's going on, and what little information it does give you is hidden behind layers of clunky UI screens.

There's other minor quality of life things that get irritating after a while. The game is riddled with misspellings and grammatical errors, and the constant audio spam of calling out every time a target drops off and reappears is giving me horrible flashbacks to the robotic voices in Silent Hunter. But I'm not really factoring these problems in when I say I don't recommend this. The core problem with this game is that the gameplay and UI is not immersive enough to be a milsim and not casual and intuitive enough to be an RTS, it falls into some unholy limbo that combines the worst aspects of both genres. And the AI is dead on arrival and frequently results in engagements going tits up through no fault of the player but rather because the AI refuses to carry out commands or avoid flying into terrain. "But it's early access." Yes I know, but EA is not a get out of jail free card for selling a broken product. They are under no legal obligation to continue development of the game and as such I judge all EA titles by what they offer on release. For $45, this game is an absolute scam right now.
