ACM Cover/ACM Jettison switch - for looks only or no?

I've noticed this switch is interactive in the pilots seat (red switch cover on the upper left of the center console) however it doesn't seem to do anything except open and close the cover Screen: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1r7sDAqEwHRmbxS3Pbdr9yOe21vY5U7rF/view?usp=sharing Switch located to the Right of AoA gauge, to the left of collision lights.
