Grandpa high on retro is a fun, simple and quick game that will satisfy most people knowing what they are getting into. The hilarious adventure of grandpa is one for the books. Lets list pros and cons:

Pros:

Fun - The game is just pure fun. There is nothing more to it than just to have fun, laugh, shoot agents and wonder how the hell you ended up where you are.

Gun Gameplay - The gun gameplay is surprisingly solid. I was truly shocked. The recoil hits HARD for some weapons and not so much for others. The sound effects will make anyone who played OG counter strike or Half life go crazy. That CLINK sound you hear everytime you reload. Its fantastic truly.

Comedy - The game is utterly ridiculous. There is no other way to explain it. Truly hilarious.

Lack of political correctness - Dont tell the terminally offended about this game, it wont end well for them.

Indie charm - This game has all the charm you would expect from a fun indie project. Love to see more.

Niether pro nor con:

Graphics - Obviously the game is going for the retro style. This can be a pro or con depending on the person. For me, I guess since I was playing in 4k, this was a bit rough BUT i will say it does have charm especially when combined with the comedy.

Cons:

Value & Game Length - For the games current retail price, i finished it in 45 minutes. I know the dev says hes adding more content, but for the content at launch and the price of the game, with only 4 very short levels ( and i didnt even speed run or anything) it just seems very lacking.

Repetitive - The game features the same NPC enemy nonstop. Literally nonstop. There is zero variation whatsoever. You will be mowing down the same agent for 4 levels till the game is over. You need atleast a few different NPCs even if its a little...

Overall the game was super fun, I can see the passion behind it and Id love to revisit when more content is added. Great job

Grandpa High on Retro is a right laugh and a retro throwback style third person shooter with a savage sense of humour made on apparently no budget, and is surprisingly playable if imperfect.

STORY
The story is incredibly simple but not in a bad way. It's almost as simple as Mario climbing a building to save Pauline, that kind of simple. Grandpa receives a phone call from a mysterious woman who offers him certain 'favours' in exchange for him coming out of military retirement to gun down waves of 'feds' and save her. There is a twist, but most people will probably see it coming.
Grandpa as a character is the central joke of the game, a foul-mouthed bong-ripping brutal son of a gun who welcomes the prospect (the line "grandpa is f**king tonight!" is enough to express that), and leaps into action with his grandson along for the adventure.
Tonally, the game is a little inconsistent, with most of the jokes being at the front and end of the game, apart from some amusing one liners from Grandpa as he explores the later levels. For a while I forgot I was playing a joke game.

GRAPHICS/STYLE
Obviously, this game has chosen to go after a retro style PS2-esque graphical model, and that's a stylistic choice that works really well for it. It looks fine in 1080 but I wouldn't go higher unless you want to start seeing the cracks.

GAMEPLAY
It's a standard third person shooter. Grandpa can walk, run, crouch to hide behind things, jump, sprint, slide and roll (most of which a guy his age probably shouldn't be able to do). The shooting is pretty tight and works well. I should point out that I played it using a keyboard and mouse combo. There's nothing new here, but also no need to reinvent the wheel.

SOUNDTRACK
From what I understand, A.I. music and voiceover were used to make this game, and while that shows, it also adds to the hilarity when characters are roboticly extolling the curves of the woman Grandpa is questing after.
Make no mistake, the sound is absolutely not the focus of this game, but there are moments where the music actually does provide some tension and atmosphere.

ISSUES
The enemy AI can be a bit crazy, with guys running full tilt at you through narrow doorways and blindsiding you while you're preparing to enter a room. It gets pretty annoying but to be fair the game barely punishes you at all if you die, so you'll forgive these quirks pretty quickly if you're anything like me.
I had an issue with using my DS4 controller that made me switch to keyboard and mouse. I can't say if that's my issue or not though, so make of it what you will.

CONCLUSION
Grandpa High on Retro is basically a long demo, or perhaps a proof on concept from a creator I hope I'll see more from if he is able to get a budget together from people supporting this game. If what I've said above has piqued your interest, help support indie gaming by playing this, even if it's just for the memes.

Solid MMORPG

the absolute epitome of pc gaming, step aside triple A companies grandpa is coming through like a truck in this life changing installment of the grandpa high on retro franchise. cant wait to see what the future holds in store for this trailblazer of a game which no doubt will redefine the genre
