Build No. #950

Hi everyone!

We're excited to share with you our build for Gamescom! The dev team have been hard at work trying to get in as much polish and bug fixing as possible. We hope you'll enjoy the build and please make sure to report any bugs you find to us via the distributed survey link.


Known Issues:

• Sometimes enemies are silly and will attack a random direction or walk into a wall and kill themselves
  
• Moving on to the next room too quickly can cause the bodies from the previous room to be carried over
  
• There are various keyboard and mouse bugs throughout the game as the focus was on controller gameplay for Gamescom
  
• Runes (dropped by bosses) are missing a notification on the HUD when picked up by players
  
• Finishers are spammable and overpowered - the team is aware of this and aim to balance it in the future. For now, we just want people to have fun with it!
  
• Players are unable to change keybinds in the settings menu
  
• After completing the tutorial, the next couple of rooms might have an enemy out of bounds on the minimap. Some say Buggle Berry is still out there…
  
• Elite enemies sometimes become easy to push around when their stagger bar is depleted
  
• Borg sometimes only has effects on one hand after casting his Ultimate - usually gets fixed after casting the next ultimate

Improvements:

• Updated character selection screen descriptions of the characters and added space for recorded stats (stats disabled for Gamescom build)
  
• Improved timing and contents of introduction pop up when starting the game
  
• Added NPC characters to the Game Hub and Shop room
  
• Improved tutorial UI
  
• Improved timing between tutorial objectives being completed and room objective updating
  
• Added gold dropping from enemies and destructible objects
  
• Added animation to the cost of items in the shop when the player is standing near and focused on one
  
• Added a timer to the in-game HUD (starts after tutorial room)
  
• Added VFX to room rewards and improved spawn timing
  
• Room reward now shows up on the mini map
  
• Made Goloidon’s wake up roar knock players over
  
• Changed Goloidon’s HP bar to spawn only after it has woken up
  
• Changed values of player and enemy HP to make the game more challenging
  
• Weak debuff now shows up as a status effect on enemy health bars and has updated visuals
  
• Improved Grailon’s aim assist
  
• Slider bar in the options can now be controlled gradually instead of large notches
  
• Leaderboard decimal places reduced to 2
  
• Updated victory and defeat result screens
  
• Various UI and VFX polish

Bug fixes:

• Fixed crash at the start of Goloidon’s boss fight
  
• Removed camera from the controls key binding list in the settings
  
• Fixed Healing Room favor not giving health when entering a new room
  
• Fixed a bug where returning to the main menu from the pause menu results in a duplicate confirmation pop up
  
• Fixed shardstones and stats not resetting upon returning to Main Menu (Gamescom-only)
  
• Fixed enemy projectiles sometimes phasing through obstacles
  
• Fixed a bug where purchasing certain items in the shop would cause the interact prompt to get stuck
  
• Fixed a bug where sometimes the value of an item in the shop wasn’t shown
  
• Fixed a bug where the player’s total gold would not update to the new amount after buying an item
  
• Fixed a bug where tutorial exit confirmation screen would sometimes loop
  
• Fixed Rage Rush favor giving invulnerability when moving to the next room even without Berserk buff being active
  
• Fixed Grailon’s attack power not being increased despite the skill tree node being unlocked
  
• Fixed a bug where bosses could accidentally wander into walls and die
  
• Fixed a bug where it wasn’t possible to move downwards in the pause menu to the bottom two options while using a controller
  
• Fixed a bug where projectiles weren’t able to break destructible objects
  
• Fixed a bug where it’s possible for players to sink into bridges
  
• Fixed Devotion Embers showing up sideways in the shop room
  
• Fixed double HOOD icon showing up in character selection

Hey everyone!
Our latest build of Warriors of Nova Thera is now live and ready for playtesting. The team have made some major updates to both gameplay and visuals, and we're looking forward to your reactions and feedback on them.
We recommend using a controller for the best experience.

Your feedback is crucial as we fine-tune the game. Please be sure to fill out the feedback form after your playthrough. The link to it can be found can be found in our discord announcement.

What We’re Looking For:

• Feedback on the new tutorial and room progression changes.
  
• Your thoughts on new features like Draconic Caches, Gold currency, and the updated combat, shop, and fountain rooms.
  
• Reactions to the new Borg Passive Ability, enhanced boss fights difficulty and enjoyability, and the new enemy, Cherrybomb and it's new behaviour.
  
• Opinions on the updated UI, BGM, SFX, and VFX.

Do take note that the skill tree & rune management is locked for balancing at the demo at Gamescom, tutorial pop-ups haven't been updated yet with latest control schemes and and mention of competition isn't referring to the playtest game, it's just for the Gamescom demo.


Known Issues:

• Goloidon Fight Crash: The game may crash when starting the Goloidon boss fight. This is not a guaranteed occurrence, so players may need to attempt the fight again on a new run.
  
• Tutorial Room Loop: After clearing the tutorial room with Buggleberry, players may get stuck in a loop when trying to move on to the next room. The workaround is to close and relaunch the game. The tutorial will be skipped automatically on the next run.
  
• Tutorial Room Checklist Bug: Players may get stuck on the last objective of breaking the enemy's stance bar. The workaround to this is to replay the tutorial room as it is not a guaranteed occurrence.
  
• Character Description Error: Grailon has an incorrect description on the character selection screen.

In-game camera rotation:

• Mouse & Keyboard: Press and hold the middle mouse button.
  
• Game controller: Use the right joystick.

Camera distance: Pulls back in Boss rooms to address prior navigational issues.

• New Boss :skull_and_crossbones:: Introducing Goloidon (Goloid EV2).
  
• New Attack VFX: Included for various attacks.
  
• SFX: First pass on new sound effects.
  
  • Tweaked Bruizer sound effects and timing.
    

• Room exit icon: Now sits on the rim of the mini-map for easier visibility.
  
• Enemy indicators: Disappear when an enemy is defeated (immediately, rather than after a delay).
  
• Player indicator: Changed to a compass arrow.

• Elite version of enemies: Can no longer be interrupted.

• Timer: Changed to a countdown timer.
  
• Wall UVs: Fixed.
  
• Enemy Waves: Balanced.
  
• New Rooms: Two new small rooms added, large room removed.
  
• Rewards Room: Updated map to indicate the location of the treasure box.

• Gameplay Fixes: Various tile collision fixes for smoother gameplay.
  
• Mouse & Keyboard: Cursor is used to aim skills, updated for Fireball and Lava Claws.
  
• Game controller: Cursor disappears when the controller is in use.
  
• Game HUD UI Update: Character skill controls update based on hardware choice (Mouse & Keyboard or Game Controller).
  
• Game controller keybinding: Can now be changed in settings (limited to single buttons for now).
  
• Keyboard keybindings: Already changeable.
  
• Skill Tree Page Update: Shows VFX on unlocked skill icons, unlocked skill tree nodes, and equipped rune slot.
  
• Summary Screen: “Continue” button can now be interacted with when using a game controller.
  
• Pop-up Warning: Appears if you attempt to exit the game while in a game run.
