Pup Champs v1.20 (25 Jun 25) - Hint Update

Hi,

Today we're introducing the Hint Update which enhances Pup Champs with some cool features that we hope will make the game more accessible for everyone :)

The big one is the introduction of something we mentioned during the last update - a hint system which we hope will give you a tiny nudge when you need one. Aside from that we've got a new mouse cursor, info about our other games, petting pups & more!

Patch notes for version 1.20:

Added the Hint System,
- The Hint System displays the intended solution for each puzzle, step-by-step,
- Accessible through a new button in the top-right corner of the game,
- Each press shows only a part of the solution so that you are not spoiled all at once,
- Additional UI shows you how many hints you've seen and allows you to replay all hints unveiled up to this point,
- If you don't want to engage with this feature you can disable it in Settings > Accessibility > Hint System,

Added a new mouse cursor,
- For those times when your regular system cursor is just a bit too tiny for a pleasant experience,
Added an "other games" panel in the main menu,
- In line with our other games, you can check out the rest of our game portfolio if you'd like,
Added a petting interaction to the credits illustration,
- You can now pet all the dogs on this screen :)
Updated game icon,
Updated credits section,
Increased intro texture resolution,
Fixed game UI frame not stretching properly on different aspect ratios,
Fixed unintended solutions on levels 6-I, 6-N, 7-11, 7-G, 7-J, 8-C, 8-D and 8-I,
Fixed an issue where the version number label would not display properly on some builds,
Fixed not being able to scroll credits on gamepad,
Fixed game SFX not being played when using gamepad/keyboard,

Pup Champs v1.10 (29 May 25) - Epilogue Update

Hi,

Hope you've had time to get through Pup Champs' story because the game just got bigger!

With the Epilogue Update we're introducing Chapter 8, featuring 19 new puzzles to solve along with a final comic strip to bring the narrative full circle. With this update we're bringing the initial 150+ puzzle count all the way to 170+ hand-crafted brain-teasers for you to solve. Aside from that we've got UI improvements, bugfixes and more to make the game even more enjoyable.

We've also read your feedback regarding the game's difficulty and wanted to mention that we're currently working hard on a hint mode for the game that should assist you with some of the more challenging puzzles. This feature will ship in an update that we are currently planning to ship next month.

Now, on to the patch notes for version 1.10:

Added Chapter 8 with 19 new puzzles and a new story comic,
>>> Featuring some of our trickiest puzzles yet and an epilogue to the game's narrative - we hope you have enjoyed the pups' journey :)
>>> There are also two new achievements to earn, if that's your thing!
Added decorations to the level select menu,
>>> We felt that the main menu was a bit too plain so we added some doodles in each chapter to make the level select menu feel a bit more alive,
Updated levels 6-N and 7-11 with alternative solutions,
Improved camera settings on all levels of the game,
Improved texture compression for story comics,
Changed palette in the hidden level,
Fixed an issue where sometimes navigation would get stuck on unit portraits, forcing you to change units instead of kicking the ball when playing on the keyboard,
Updated SFX when Bull collides with another unit,

Pup Champs was also featured during today's Thinky Direct[thinkygames.com] and will be taking part in the Cerebral Puzzle Showcase[www.cerebralpuzzleshowcase.com] from May 29th till June 5th! (though the launch discount is only valid until June 2nd - so be sure to buy the game before it runs out!)

Pup Champs v1.05 (22 May 25)

Added a "Switch unit after passing" toggle to Settings > Accessibility,
>>> Now, current selection is automatically changed after passing the ball between two units, but in case you prefer the old system we added the option to change it in the main menu :)
Added a small space between Main Menu and Restart Level buttons in game UI,
>>> We received complaints that in some cases people return to the main menu instead of restarting the level so we added a small divider to better differentiate these buttons.
Updated level 5-I,
Updated levels 6-F, 6-H, 6-I and 6-M,
Updated levels 7-12 and 7-13,
Updated levels 7-G, 7-H and 7-J,
>>> Some of these puzzles had unintended solutions, so we tweaked them a bit - but if you solved any of these puzzles before the update, their completion will still be honored.

Hi everyone! We're hard at work on post-launch fixes for Pup Champs and took some time to update our game demo to match the state of the released game. You can try it out right now:

Hi everyone! In just a month you'll be playing Pup Champs - check out our updated trailer:

That's right - the game is launching on May 19th 2025 for PC/Mac here on Steam (we're also coming to the App Store and Google Play if you prefer kicking the ball while on the go). And, of course, we'll be fully Steam Deck compatible on launch.

Hi everyone! We've just started sign-ups for beta tests of our upcoming game, Pup Champs:

We're planning to run at least two batches of playtesting, one for mobile devices (App Store / Google Play) in early April; and a second one for Steam players (PC / Mac / Steam Deck) in late April - you can use the link below to sign up for all sessions:

These beta-tests will focus on making sure the puzzle progression in the game is just right, finding out any obscure bugs and checking if the game is readable and fun. Players who leave us valuable feedback (either via e-mail[afterburn.games], Discord[discord.gg] or our Steam Community forums for Pup Champs) will get a chance for a mention in the game's credits, similarly to how we've done in all of our past games.

Please bear in mind that signing up for the beta does not guarantee entry - we'll be expanding access to the playtest as needed, but we might cap it if we get too many submissions.
