The long-awaited Fall major update for Old School Rally is finally here! Here's a breakdown of the new features and content included in this update:

1. Split-Screen Mode

Split-screen mode has finally arrived! Access this feature via the “Arcade” option in the main menu. Challenge your buddies and enjoy some serious rallyracing or have fun bumping into each other - either way, it’ll be a different experience than playing solo.

Split-screen is available for local couch-op only, but thanks to Steam Remote Play players from afar can sit together virtually!

2. New Vehicle: Pada B82

Inspired by one of the best-selling cars in the history of automobile, by popular demand, the Pada B82 arrives in Old School Rally!

3. Four New Stages

Yes - we know what you folks wanted, and we have been working on new landscapes, new stage features, and finally would like to present you:

- Arizona SS1;

- United Kindom SS1;

- And two new variants of fan-favorite tracks from Finland and Sweden.

4. New S-Class Rally Events

With these new stages, we’ve also added two new S-Class rally events.

5. New Weather Effect: Foggy Weather

Not only available in the Time Trial mode, it will also retroactively appear in some rally events now.

6. Workshop Livery Contest "Best Original" Winner: Sushi Delivery Van

Introducing the winning design from the Workshop Livery contest, the Sushi RV by "bacon"! You can now easily switch between subscribed car skins without reopening the Workshop.

7. New Soundtracks

We’ve added five new tracks, available during races and in the retro music player.

8. Improved Steering Wheel Support

We’re continually working to improve the gameplay experience for steering wheel users. If you encounter any issues with steering wheel controls, please let us know.

9. Weather Effects in Photo Mode and Replay Mode.

Weather effects are now visible in both photo mode and the replay system.

10. Wipers in Cockpit View for Rainy Weather

The cockpit view now displays windshield wipers in motion on rainy days.

It’s been a while since our last update for Old School Rally, but that’s because we’ve been working on a massive new update behind the scenes - It will be our biggest and most complex update yet, so we need a bit more time for preparation and testing.

Today, however, we’re excited to share a preview of what’s coming!

Expect a few new stages featuring some fresh (and more complex) terrains across different countries!

Major New Feature – Split-Screen Play:
Got friends over? Try out split-screen play! Just remember: friendship first, competition second!

*Important - The local split-screen will suport Steam Remote Play Together (https://steamproxy.com/steamstore/remoteplay#together) so we'll make sure that you can have a virtual couch with your friends as long as the Internet connection is available!

New Cars and Rallies:
Of course we'll have new cars! Thanks to our passionate community, we know exactly what you want to see and we are working on those!

New Music Tracks:
Expect some fresh tunes in this update!

New Weather Conditions:
More weather effects are on the way - you don't get to choose the weather on race day, but you can certainly do that in game!

Additional UX/UI and QOL Improvements:
We’re also implementing some additioinal tweaks and fixes to improve your gameplay experience.

Now, this update is slated to go live around November 15–16, and we’ll make sure to kicking off a new discount period!

New Feature

• Added "Apply" and "Default" buttons in the Workshop menu for applying downloaded liveries and restoring default liveries.
  
• Custom livery feature now supports artwork on wheels.

Improvements

• Vehicle livery files will automatically adjust their size to avoid excessive memory usage.
  
• Increased the maximum adjustable field of view in photo mode.
  
• Fixed some texture issues with the vehicle Jupiter Ram.
  
• Fixed an issue that could occur when selecting menu options in the main menu.

Known Issue

• We have identified that the spinning menu bug is caused by the connection of unsupported wheel devices. We will continue to investigate this issue for a prompt resolution.

As you may have already discovered, Old School Rally just received its first major update since the Early Access release, and with it, the Steam Workshop feature for designing and using custom liveries is now LIVE!

To celebrate this milestone, we’re hosting a community contest—this time for the best custom car livery designs!

It’s simple: we want to see your most creative (and wildest) custom designs for any car available in the game. Every custom car livery submission will automatically be entered into the contest.

New Rules

In order to avoid duplicate entries & secondary submissions, please upload your work to “Screenshot” section and posting them here to claim the originality!

There are two categories:

Most Popular Designs: Using the built-in Steam Workshop feature, the Top 3 "Most Popular" designers will win a $10 Steam gift card by the time the contest ends;

Best Original Design: The dev and publishing teams will vote for the best original design (i.e., no direct use of copyrighted material). The winning design will be implemented in the game as a permanent livery option.

The contest runs from the moment the Workshop feature goes live until 10 a.m. UTC on October 7.

Now for a few ground rules:

Use common sense when creating your designs—no hate messages, no inappropriate content (using general Internet standard), etc. Violations will result in an automatic ban.

Please refrain from posting direct political messages. We respect everyone’s opinions but ask for your cooperation to keep the contest friendly for all participants.

The Wait is Over! The First Major Update for Old School Rally is Now Live!

We’re excited to share a detailed overview of everything included in this major update:

New Major Feature Added - Steam Workshop: You can now create, share, or simply use vehicle liveries made by other players. This is just the beginning—we plan to expand the Workshop's features in future updates!

New Vehicle Added: A new car - Panter DR3 is now available.

New Feature Added: Retro Music Player
Enjoy a curated selection of tunes from our development team anytime outside of races with this retro-style music player!

Improved Collection Menu:
We’ve added purchasable items for even more customization and decoration options for your collection shelf. More to come!

Two New Achievements Added:
Complete the Moonlight and Classics events to unlock corresponding achievements.

"Spinning Menu" Fix:
We’ve addressed an issue where unsupported steering wheels caused menu rotation errors. This fix is still in testing, so we appreciate your feedback!

Improved Dust Particle Effects for Replay:
Dust and dirt effects are now clearer in the replay system.

Bug Fixes:

Resolved an issue with the TRACTOR vehicle not displaying correctly in replays.
Fixed a wall-clipping bug in China SS1.
Fixed a collision node near checkpoint 3 in Finland SS2.
Improved localization in certain areas.
A number of other bug fixes and overall improvements.

This major update is packed with content, and the developers have poured immense effort into making it a reality. To celebrate, we’ve also launched a brand new community event with amazing prizes! We’d love for you to participate!

Hello, Racers!

Thanks to your amazing support, Old School Rally has been well-received since its initial launch. Over the past two months, we’ve rolled out several updates and implemented some highly-requested, high-priority features along with some new cars. However, we know that y'all are all holding your breath for something in particular...

And finally, we have the exciting news that you are looking for - the Steam Workshop feature is ALMOST ready!

The first implementation of Steam Workshop will allow players to create and share custom-designed liveries for all in-game cars with the global Old School Rally community.

Here’s how it works:

1. Export a livery template in-game via the built-in function.
   
2. Locate and edit the template to your preference and make your custom livery.
   
3. Simply save your creation and keep it the original file folder, then go into the game again to upload it to the workshop.
   
4. Once uploaded, you’ll be able to view and select your very own design in the Steam Workshop main page.
   

And of course, if you’re not into designing liveries yourself, no worries at all! We’re sure that our talented players from the Old School Rally community will offer plenty of custom designs for everyone to choose from - simply subscribe to the preferred design and fetch it in the game!

It’s that easy! There is also a built-in mod browser that will let players browse and subscribe to car liveries directly from the game.

Will the Steam Workshop support even more features in the future? We can’t say for sure just yet, but we want to know that nothing is impossible! Especially with the sustained, passionate support we've gotten from players around the world!
