I just started playing a bit to procrastinate some work I had, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ what a mistake it was. I don't think ill be able to put this down anytime soon T^T.

The visuals are breathtaking, the character designs original and super well thought out. I love the character sprites, Environment and overall feel of the game. This production quality is insane!!

The plot is super intriguing to me so far, but no spoilers, you'll just have to see for yourself :p

I was not expecting the illusions to kick in so quickly, I was expecting more of a DDLC- type slow buildup, but no complaints on that front either. The glitching is well paced, impactful and I got chills a few times. Although that might have just been my art-nerd reaction to the visuals lol. So far, i definitely recommend this to others and i absolutely can't wait to keep playing!!!

"Illusion Carnival" is a rather unusual psychedelic 3D rendered 2D adventure game with 2D sprites.

What do you do in the game? Wander around trippy scenery solving various puzzles... really, this is quite well put together, reasonably well polished and contains over 2 hours of content.

Now, the graphics certainly could be a lot better but they are servicable, and given you get some rather well put together puzzle solving adventure gameplay for nothing, we can overlook some of the defects in this rather rare case.

The graphics in this game are really quite good, which at least makes the game look more appealing. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. Here, you get a reasonably even match, enough to give this a pass.

Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game.

Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable.

Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it?

Yes, believe it or not. While this is far from a perfect game, the deficiencies and drawbacks can be overlooked due to the zero up front price and the value you get out of it. It's greater than the sum of its parts, and worth downloading if you're a fan of this kind of gaming experience.
