I played this game a lot back in the day (not on steam) and it still holds up as one of the GOAT colony sim/city builders. Every time I play a new city builder, I'm always comparing it and its mechanics to banished -- it just does so many things right. One of the best mechanics of banished is how your resources are tied to physical objects in the world; ones that citizens need to pick up and move around, which makes for much more engaging gameplay. It's a simple, yet deep game with intuitive design.
