So here you are, looking at a review of all the bonus bits and bobs the Master Collection gets you. Let me say the two digital comics that are fully voiced by the MGS game cast are the best bonus you're getting here. They are the best kind of adaption a comic book can give because it's faithful to the overall plot of the games while expanding and remixing to better suit the pace of a graphic novel. For example, in MGS2, the events you'd just play through as Raiden are split between him and Snake, making for a fun semi-canonical what-if where Snake can fight Vamp in place of Raiden while the narrative ends up in the same place by the time the final boss rolls around.

The comic's art oozes that same style they used for the cutscenes in Peacewalker due to the PSP's limitations, making these books feel distinctly Metal Gear. They have a simple chapter selection for browsing scenes, and the menus are sleek and easy to navigate. I enjoyed the Metal Gear Solid 2 graphic novel more than I was expecting because it mixes some things up making it feel like a fun and simplified take on the insanity that is that game.

It also comes with the classic but inferior NES port of Metal Gear and the abysmal Snake's Revenge. It was in part thanks to Snake's Revenge that we ended up getting Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake when Kojima heard they made another Metal Gear without him, and he wanted to make a true sequel. So while one is the NES version with a watered-down story and the other is the Devil May Cry 2 of the Metal Gear series, I'm glad they are preserved in this collection as they are part of the history of the series, and they make for fun curios when diving into the deep corners of the fandom.

I hope when The Master Collection Vol 2 drops, both Metal Gear Ac!d titles make the cut into bonus content like this. They may not be canon parts of the series, but they are fun games and a part of the legacy.
