This update is bring the power level of attack builds and status effect builds more in line with eachother. From launch til now, it's looked like Defence is too strong, it lets you survive physical hits and also doubles to boosting your status effects (which ignore defence too). To counteract that, I've gone through all the Critters and been reducing defence and increasing HP, some have even had further balancing.

The aim is twofold:

1. Reduce defence so physical attacks can overall do more damage
   
2. Reduce defence so status effects and heals take a bit more effort to stack up

So hopefully this update is a positive change to getting all cards a bit more balanced, and increase the viability of attack cards.
Another change was to reduce the power of the attack cards which hit all enemies. These cards were similar damage to those which hit one target which shouldn't be the case. Of course lots of other single target cards have been buffed up, but the majority are where I'd like them to be.

The final big change is swapping the rarity of the X Energy and Critter+X Energy. I'd vastly underestimated how useful a card that gave 1 energy but didn't use a Card Play was compared to 2 energy that were more flexible. Therefore, those free to use energy cards will be harder to get and the starting decks will all feature Critter+X Energy cards, which may have the added bonus of making multitype teams easier to create.

Hi everyone, just to confirm that Isle of Swaps has released into v1.0 (or v1.035 specifically) so no Early Access here, the game is complete!

Isle of Swaps will be released in 2 bundles. The first is Isle of Swaps and it soundtrack. If you like the battle tunes you've heard in the demo, be sure to pick that up.
The second bundle is Isle of Swaps, Fuzz Force: Spook Squad and both of their soundtracks. Fuzz Force: Spook Squad is the first game I made and it's another roguelite deckbuilder but with dice! You'll play as ghost hunters on their journey through a board game to stop the Polter Prince. This game is the origin of Finn, Dotty, Lix, Peppa and Cassie!

Now for that bonus: Did you know Isle of Swaps used to be an open-world collectathon? It didn't take off so it became the roguelite deckbuilder you know now. It was planned to be a game where Dina travelled around her island swapping cards to complete her binder, and the battles were auto battles where you assigned boosting skill cards to your critters before the fights.
Where I'm going with this is that you can play that version too!

All you need to do is right click Isle of Swaps, select betas and then choose iosadventuremode from the dropdown. Then you can play this original version! Your roguelite version data will be safe, the original version doesn't save anything. Think of it as a free demo.

It's been quite the busy week, right? The coverage embargo for Isle of Swaps ended on September 19th, so that's why there's been lots of videos since then. Thanks to all the new people who have discovered, followed and wishlisted the game!

Another cheeky benefit is that watching other people play reveals lots of issues for the game that need to be fixed so here's a big list of all the changes I've done. Thankfully there hasn't been a lot of bugs and most of them were issues that weren't even spotted.
If you've played the full game already, this is an update since then (v1.032>v1.034) and if you've only played the demo then this is a huge update as the demo was last updated in June!

• Hangolin ability changed to gain 1 thorns on energy gain

• There's an increased chance of running into Special Characters you don't have the achievement for yet.
  
• Completing a standard challenge run unlocks Nuzlocke, completing Nuzlocke unlocks randomiser
  
• Championships round 2 and 3 should now be a bit tougher as enemies will be level 7 and 8 respectively

• Marshall's SP will now reflect how much SP he actually has instead of 35

Last time we met the first half of the artists so here's part 2 where we look at the other half.

Ben Bliss
Ben is a guy who does spooky pictures most of the time so he was asked to do the spooky ghost types. You may recognise his Staraphim illustration for when that card starts doing 7 damage to everyone every turn but I've picked out his Cremectre illustration. It's one of the few that's got a 'real world' background and some actual crime! Cremectre is one of the genuinely evil critters. Fun fact: All of the critters Ben has drawn are on the same page of the binder!


Hayden King
Hayden has drawn a lot of bug pokemon in the past so we asked if he wanted to draw some bugs and he was totally down. He's drawn the dynamic Trilodril illustration and this beautiful Lepivice too. The front page of the binder is green nature cards with green nature critters so the pink blossom really stands out.


Kevin Fagaragan
You may recognise this name and if not you've probably seen his work. He's done a ton of art for indie games and lots of youtube thumbnails (antdude/jaiden)! Kevin did illustrate the Wallablaze who is both used for the tutorial and one of Dina's starter critters but I wanted to spotlight this excellent Boxour piece. A strong atmosphere as it pelts down rain whilst it's fighting with its water-boxing gloves. Along with Wallablaze and Boxour, Ursignal was drawn by Kevin.


Stripedpants
Stripedpants was one of the first illustrators recommended to me and once I saw they'd drawn some maplestory fanart, I was instantly sold. Definitely someone who drew in a cuter style and best suited for the more basic critters. Their first one was Starrite who I've described as a critter who can use the diamond on their face as a search light. They followed up with Baaroola and Volsnip.


Nancy Peart
Nancy is someone who I worked with and draw an illustration of a game character I'd made. Her art style was very cool, like those retro illustrations of fairies. As she seemed good at feminine characters I asked if she could help design Prinleaf. Prinleaf had a basic design but was quite rubbish, so this iteration is thanks to Nancy. Nancy has also illustrated Pombust and Glacerunt.


ScribblesArt
Fun fact: ScribblesArt is just me once again in a different style! There's a lot of cards for this game, so I wanted to do a looser style but push myself to do more exciting poses and interesting lighting. After doing like 250 cards, I'd like to think I've become a better illustrator.


crittaPIX
Funner fact: crittaPIX is also me but doing pixel art! I'd dabbled in pixel art but only a few illustrations. It was fun to work in a small resolution and a limited colour palette. As no one else has done a similar thing, these cards really stand out. But I can't lie, lots of the crittaPIX cards look good because they're symmetrical!
