If you bought this, you'll probably remember the game. So, skip to the essentials:
- Some encounter directX related error message on first start. This can be fixed by manually downloading the older package from microsoft and starting the game with arguments to be windowed and in fixed resolution.
- Game runs stable, no crashes.
- Alternate resolutions to accommodate modern screens can be unlocked by altering 2 .ini files.

Do NOT purchase C&C ULTIMATE COLLECTION unless you only want to play the older of the titles. EA has made literaly no effort to ensure these programs are operational on modern PCs. Red Alert 2 and earlier is fine, but Generals wont boot without a custom options.ini file. In 3 Tiberium Wars only the skirmish crashes with no error codes. I have not tired Red Alert 3 because I'm not having fun at this point. No one purchased this for C&C4 so idc if its working. Maybe I'll revisit this and try to trouble shoot again, but I would not advise for 90% of fans. I'm keeping the purchase primarily for Red Alert 2 and future work on the other titles. However I really have to curse EA for offering this as a package on their store while making literally no effort to give these at least one update. Also, Steam why can't I leave a review on the bundle page?

Really interesting and unique units. Still fun, even in 2025.

Played it many, many hours as a kid. This game completely deserves a remaster for modern systems. Still fun though, controls feel kind of janky when I've played an updated AOE2

Haven't played this game for over 15 years but it's crazy how much stuff you remember after all this time. Coming home after (high) school and playing skirmish with a friend was always so much fun. The campaign (the base-game and expansion) is still etched into my memory. Each line from the intro, missions, in-game event I can still quote. Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge are classics and they always will be.

There's obviously still so much that could be better, the game hasn't been updated beyond it's 1.007 version since forever. For instance, the enemy AI is still very predictable and unit placement/pathing can be annoying. But everything else is still there: Amazing unit diversity, great over-the-top acting, an endlessly playable skirmish. Whether you're playing RA2 for the first time or are a returning player like me, you're in for one of the most defining RTS-games of the past 3 decades.

Old but still good.
