In Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog, the crew is tasked with investigating a mysterious signal. As this track plays, they venture into the unknown—who sent the signal, and what dangers await? The truth will be revealed in the story to come.

Though the last war has long ended, the Sick Bay aboard the Gun-Dog remains anything but quiet. While life-threatening injuries are rare, the focus has shifted to mental health support, chronic illness management, and maintaining the crew’s overall well-being.

Some crew members still battle severe PTSD from the war. Others struggle with long-term effects of working in a no-daylight environment or digestive issues caused by low gravity. The Sick Bay remains one of the ship’s most essential areas.

Dr. Rosarium, the ship’s military doctor, is highly skilled but prefers silence. No one knows the full story behind his mechanical eye and hand, but rumors persist.

Some say his prosthetics conceal surgical tools or hidden syringes. However, spend enough time with him, and you’ll realize—Dr. Rosarium is no tech expert. He can’t even figure out how to use a datapad. But when it comes to fixing people, he’s far better than fixing machines.

The full-color demo of SFS: The Gun-Dog has been live for five months now, and we want to take a moment to express our gratitude to everyone who played the demo and shared their feedback. Your support and passion have been truly inspiring.

We’ve carefully reviewed all feedback, including community comments and survey responses. Many of the suggested improvements have already been implemented in the upcoming full release. However, the current demo doesn’t yet reflect these changes.

As a result, we’ve decided to temporarily take the demo offline. Once it has been updated to match the full version’s improvements, we’ll make it available again for new players to download.

[Players who have already downloaded the demo will still be able to play it without interruption.]

We’ll continue listening to your feedback and using your valuable suggestions to further refine the game.

This track isn’t included in the current demo, as it’s reserved for moments of high tension. But rest assured, when this music kicks in, the protagonists will face dire challenges—and maybe even find a way to turn the tide.

Today's "One Hundred Views of The Gun-Dog" features the Engines, one of the most crucial areas of the ship.
For most of the crew, the Mess Hall is the favourite spot on the ship (pilots might have different opinions). But if you were to ask which area they’d avoid the most, the engine room would probably take the top spot.

As the heart of the ship’s power supply, the engine room showcases humanity’s cutting-edge spacefaring technology—bosons, controlled nuclear fusion, and more. With humanity's interstellar colonization expanding rapidly, starship propulsion systems have undergone continuous innovation.
Because of its critical importance and inherent danger, the engine room is one of the few true “restricted zones” on the Gun-Dog.

Another reason the crew avoids the Engines? The intimidating presence of Chief Engineer, Mackenzie Cathays.
Mackenzie’s management style harkens back to the days of WWII maintenance crews—strict, humourless, and full of seemingly outdated methods for running this high-tech space. She even knows Morse code! Can you imagine? In this day and age, someone still clings to a centuries-old communication system.

But Mackenzie insists, “Spacecraft and Earth’s old ocean ships are fundamentally similar. Morse code shouldn’t be forgotten.” Who knows? Maybe this outdated knowledge will come in handy one day…

This track plays a key role throughout over half of SFS: The Gun-Dog's story, and will introduce you to a crucial character in the game—Cassandra. However, today’s spotlight isn’t on her, so let’s keep the suspense and start with someone else.


The story takes place aboard the high speed patrol ship Gun-Dog, part of the Jovian Unified Colony Fleet. Many classic sci-fi works feature the hangar as a critical part of the ship, and that’s no different here. The hangar is the area where the fleet’s mechs are stored and prepared for use. As a high speed patrol ship, Gun-Dog is primarily tasked with reconnaissance and special operations, requiring a lightweight design. Consequently, the ship is relatively compact, and the hangar can only accommodate a limited number of mechs at a time.

In this low-gravity environment, the maintenance crew and pilots use sliding handrails to move around, allowing them to quickly reach their targets. However, according to the Jovian Unified Colony Fleet regulations, civilian personnel are prohibited from performing these seemingly simple tasks without special certification to avoid accidents.

That said, it’s been over four years since the last war ended, and most ships—including the Gun-Dog—have used the hangar the least during regular operations. Aside from mech storage and maintenance, the hangar’s primary role—combat readiness—is rarely needed. Most of the time, only minimal simulation training is conducted to keep pilots and crew proficient.


In the demo of SFS: The Gun-Dog, the hangar is a required location, but the demo doesn’t include any combat scenarios, so the hangar doors remain closed. Due to the lack of combat action, the Gun-Dog has only a small team of maintenance personnel—Cadet Dalton Grange. Dalton is still green, often startled by the smallest things, but despite his nervousness, he’s more than capable of handling the daily maintenance duties on the ship. Rumor has it that he’s also working on a secret project in his spare time...

We are excited to announce that from the 27th to the 29th of September Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog will be present at IndieDevDay, the biggest independent videogame fair in Spain. The event will take place at La Farga de L'Hospitalet, in Barcelona, in an exhibition space of 8.500 m².

Publisher Astrolabe Games and Meridiem is excited to announce that "Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog" is officially scheduled for release on February 20, 2025. Along with the release date announcement, Astrolabe Games has also revealed the latest trailer for the game, showcasing the all-new Full-Color mode. At the same time, the demo, previously available on Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, will receive a major update to become fully colored! (Sep.5 for PlayStation 5, Sep.19 for Nintendo Switch)

"Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog" is set to launch on multiple platforms and will support French, Spanish, and German, in addition to the previously announced Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese localizations.

Additionally, a physical edition of the game will be released simultaneously, courtesy of publishing partners PM Studios Inc. in North America and Meridiem Games in Europe. Players are encouraged to keep an eye on the publishing partners’ sites for physical edition availability.

Planetary Calendar 214. Four years have passed since the end of the Solar War. Our protagonist, scarred from the loss of his crewmates in the war, is re-assigned to the Jovian patrol ship Gun-Dog as it’s dispatched with orders to investigate mysterious signals coming from the edge of Jovian Space.

Unknown to the Gun-Dog’s crew, a new danger looms deep in the ocean of stars, threatening not just the Gun-Dog but all her crew.

Take on the role of the Gun-Dog's security officer as you attempt to save the ship from an unknown assailant whilst navigating the paranoia, conspiracies and vendettas that break out amongst the crew. As camaraderie falls apart can you overcome the challenges that await?

The Game - A love letter to retro anime and 80s Sci-Fi.

Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog is a visual novel adventure in the spirit of classic PC-9800 titles. Featuring a vintage green screen aesthetic, Space Colony Studios strives to create an "era-accurate" game that exudes retro vibes in every way, from the text to the visual effects. As the Jovian patrol ship sails into the darkness among the stars, the players will feel like they are on an adventure in an 80s Sci-Fi as they solve the mystery they find themselves in.

The Story – A new threat emerges from the void.

Humans have long since freed themselves from the grasp of gravity, but they are still unable to escape the hold of war.

It’s year 214 of the Planetary Calendar. Four years have passed since the end of the Solar War and an uneasy peace persists throughout the solar system. The Jovian patrol ship Gun-Dog is sent on a reconnaissance mission to investigate mysterious signals coming from the edge of Jovian space. What starts as a routine assignment quickly escalates into a battle for survival as an unknown threat terrorises the crew.

The Gameplay – Investigate. Interact. Analyse. Advance.

Utilising traditional point-and-click adventure mechanics, during your time on the Gun-Dog, you can navigate various locations on the ship, examine the details of the richly realised backgrounds or talk with the different crew members on board. You will need to listen closely to the characters' words to reveal important clues or duplicitous intentions and keep your eyes peeled for key items and interactive elements in the backgrounds that you can use to advance the story.

Each crew member has a distinct personality, role and history. The Place - Adventure in an entirely explorable ship!

The main stage of the first installment in the "Stories from Sol" series, as the Jovian patrol ship Gun-Dog heads into deep space it serves as the setting for the game’s story. It has been exhaustively realised. Rich and evocative descriptions of the ship, including the constant rumble of the engine room, the bustle of the bridge, the silence of space pair with an extensive range of scenes that have been meticulously designed and animated in detail to deliver an immersive experience. Inspired by the best that anime has to offer the ship even features "Armoured Frames", mechanised, human shaped, weapons of war.
