LET ME BE CLEAR. For veterans of SFH, this is a buy. I can't and won't stop you from remembering such a passion project that has now come full circle into this remake. What I WILL say is that I can't wholeheartedly recommend this to newcomers. The gameplay loop is pretty bare and there's definitely still some unbalanced parts to this game, entirely in the campaign. Even over-leveled some parts are plain unfair to the point where bots have a better understanding of the game than you. If you want a good SFH game then try SFH2 over on Flashpoint. Level design is better and there's smaller level increments, but there is definitely some disparity between classes (*ahemengineerisbadandsniperisoverpoweredahem*)

STILL, this game does have quite the production value, and looks the best SFH ever has.(*whatnotheresnosuchthingasSFH3*)

If you're willing to look past all that though, this project of love will it it's all.

Great game, clear improvement from the original.

Likes: (From the new stuff)
-The Cutscenes and added on story are great, I believe there's about 7 more missions compared to the original
-The boss fights were a great addition to the story
-The new abilities are also fun, it's just a shame that the commando now summons a small drone in comparison to a whole attack helicopter in the original.

Dislikes:
-Lowering the max level to 30 is stupid in my opinion, it's pretty easy to get to 30, should've kept the original 50.
-I don't recall if this issue existed in the original game, but the AI likes to just have a truce in FFA's as soon as the player is in their line of sight, what's the point of an FFA when the player gets focused on?

Let me preface this by saying I don't entirely hate this game; I hate how frustrating this game can be sometimes.

The story of the SFH remaster is so much more fleshed out than the original. The cast of side characters (Toad, Shadow, Riggs, and Bull) now serve a greater role in the story instead of just being some forgettable NPC's in the original. Moreover, the motives for why the characters do the things they do is more grounded than just "I want to do this." In the original game, the Globex Leader didn't really have that big of a reason to launch the nuke; he just did it because he was bored or something. In the remaster, he has a reason why he launched the nuke; the nuke is carrying the sedative that would allow his neurotoxin to take over everyone's mind and allow Globex to take over the world!

The art for this game has been redrawn with more detail while mostly keeping the feel of the original game. I would consider some designs to be outright better than the original! In the original, the infected look like what a bad creepypasta artist would imagine SFH.exe would look like. In the remaster, they look less like bad creepypastas and more like soulless monsters! If you don't like how some of the designs came out, you could get the old designs for free!

Not all weapons are created equally. Some are more reliable than others; other weapons can make you wonder if you could do more damage with your spit. Some of the weapons in the game go against what their category is designed for. The 50 Cal sniper is a great example of this. The 50 Cal has the highest damage out of all snipers but the terrible accuracy makes this weapon frustrating to use whenever you're trying to land a headshot.
[h4]Melee weapons feel janky[/h4]
Melee weapons feel inconsistent; this could work to your favor and this could screw you over. You could hit enemies through map geometry and kill people without putting yourself in any danger. Your melee could also fail to register to hit someone who is so close to you that they could kiss you.

- Deathmatch: if the runner up is one point away from winning, the game will say you lost on the next death even if the runner up didn't kill that person; this issue is greatly exacerbated on online mode because you and your buddy will most likely be the top of the leaderboard and the odds of some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bot killing another bot is high.
- Team Gun Game: weapon scaling feels arbitrary and players have their own weapons distinct from the team. This sounds fine on paper but this becomes unfair for Mission 14-2. You could have a terrible SMG while everyone on the enemy team has a power weapon and they'll be in the lead despite the fact not one person the enemy team has the amount of kills you do.

If you completely ignore the side ops, then you shouldn't run into this issue. If you do, you'll see how this game feels like the same experience again and again. Despite being branded as a single player experience, this game only feels like a single player experience on boss battles.

- Excluding the loadouts of key characters and bosses, every one you encounter in SFH has a randomly generated loadout. In custom matches this is fine, but this makes the campaign an inconsistent and frustrating experience on higher difficulties. Mission 18 perfectly highlights this issue; you can die instantly from Globex with cracked loadouts before ten second have passed and there is nothing you can do about it. It doesn't help that respawn points are also randomized so you could spawn in front of a Globex Juggernaut with a Machete that has your name on it! The inverse is also true! Even if you respawn next to an enemy, they'll probably kill you first because your gun will jam for the first second after you spawn in!
- If you wanted a new gun, you would buy that new gun in the original game. If you wanted to a new gun in the remaster, you would consult 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓜𝓪𝓰𝓲𝓬𝓪𝓵 𝓢𝓵𝓸𝓽 𝓜𝓪𝓬𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓮 ❤️ and hope you get the gun you want. Even if you get the gun you want, it may not come with the stats you want that make it usable. There are options that guarantee the class, type, and rarity of what you get from the slot machine but it still won't guarantee that you get exactly what you're looking for; or at least something that you'll settle on.

TL:DR - This game is some nice looking ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
