My only complaint is that the english translation is horrible, especially in the story/roguelike sections. Still, given that it's free and not P2W, it's definitely worth a try.
Quite F2P friendly. You can try all characters for free in single player or casual modes, and can easily earn the currency for unlocking characters / side jobs without paying anything. The only things requiring payment are skins/cosmetics.

i honestly don't get the negative reviews. of course, it's difficult in the beginning. of course it's partially luck based. but come on, it's a free game where the only things you need to pay actual money for in the game is aesthetics and different outfits for the characters. It's not hard to get currency to unlock new characters, as I said, real money is only needed for visual & aesthetic content.

Sometimes ranked can be frustrating, especially at higher stages, but that can also make it fun. i'd say if you're into card battlers and don't mind a challenge, give it a try.

I do have to note that ranked (and the other PVP game-modes) are the most well-polished, the solo stuff can be frustrating and is just trial & error at times. still, this may be fixed in the future. the devs put out updates regularly, and in the two months i've played the game it's gotten noticeably better. both in the interface and balancing of cards/abilities. New characters get added from time to time too & the events are nice, so I haven't grown bored of it yet. :)
