I liked Terra Memoria a lot more than I thought I would. While the story might not be epic or as deep as in some other games, I mainly enjoyed it for the exploration, quests and building.

I read that the developers were inspired by Dark Cloud 2 (Dark Chronicles) and I really felt that, not just because of the town-building, but also the music and atmosphere. The world felt very fleshed out and the amount of details was unexpected.

In the typical fashion, you go from town to town, can do side quests and follow a main story.

The battles are turn-based and feel very similar to Pokemon, rather than typical (J)RPGs. I would say that the game wasn't overly difficult and some might see it as too easy, but it made the game as a whole even more relaxing and feel-good.

The town building is surprisingly detailed. You can place villagers, buildings, decorations, but also floor (grass, stone, etc.), plants and fences. There isn't overly much you can do in the town, but it's a nice way to get creative.

This is easily one of the prettiest games I've seen. It looks similar to games like Octopath Traveler and combines 2D and 3D.
The towns have a lot of details and are interesting to explore, even if there isn't much to interact with.

Personally, I thought that the character art used in some menus doesn't fit the rest of the game, but you don't see it often anyway. Other than that, the sprites, scenery and decoration look incredible.

While I liked the dialogue and characters, the story itself didn't feel very deep, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It goes well with the game being more relaxing and nostalgic.

The side quests can be pretty unique and you meet some pretty funny people.
It wouldn't recommend this game for the story itself, but for the overall experience.
