this game is really fun to play with your partner. my boyfriend plays the fish and has to dodge and weave all the enemies while i get to frolic through the flowers as a cat and watch him struggle. 10/10

Really wanted to like this game just because I love the asymmetric co-op concept in general, and applying it to a platformer is a great idea! Unfortunately this game is really held back by poor game design choices straight out of the 2000s era.

Chief among these are the constant bad camera angles that get in the way of the platforming which is by no means easy. In addition, the implementation of some of the gimmicks and mechanics are pretty rough, with some of the gimmicks in later levels just flat out not working as they're supposed to randomly. When you combine all that with lengthy chase sequences and some oddly spaced checkpoints, it results in a game that tends to be more frustrating than fun, especially because the chance of failure is higher with both players needing to execute at the same time. There are just a bunch of design choices that are flat out bizarre for a game releasing in 2024, in particular a mid-game sequence that splits up the players goes on for far too long with to punitive a difficulty for what isn't a core part of the gameplay loop. I'd say the challenge demanded by the game would actually be perfect if not for the mechanics and camera angles just making it much harder than it needs to be.

There's just an overall lack of polish in the game with bugs scattered around, though nothing game-breaking. The interesting mechanics introduced in each level are ultimately let down by the poor level design and poorer camera angles. It's disappointing really because the market is starved for co-op games like this, and what's there isn't bad at all, just much more frustrating than fun.
