To Carry a Sword is free on Steam, now and forever (well, as long as the service lasts), and in marking the event we have a no-longer-secret surprise: the free soundtrack! Yes indeed, our musician has pulled the tunes out of the belly of FMOD and created standalone tracks for you all to enjoy, reminiscing about that time you hit a higher Fame level and wondered why the title music didn't sound the same anymore. You can download it as DLC; it should be visible using Steam's usual system for these things.

We Three Nouns has (/have) been grateful for the support, conversation, and feedback during development. It began as a capstone project at Rochester Institute of Technology and today is a living thing off in the wild. We are "signing off" now, each of us on this team having moved on to the next things in life. We hope you have enjoyed the journey.

In combat, are you meant to mash spacebar? or is it just some arbitrary speed that isn't listed or easily implied through stats?

We Three Nouns is (/are) pleased to announce that, as of this month, To Carry a Sword will become free for all. To mark the occasion, we’ve prepared a sparkly new update that addresses bugs and improves the experience, especially for those wanting to mod in new events.

Version 1.0.2 patch notes

Movement speed has been adjusted in combat.
- Enemy, player, and projectile movement speeds should now be less sensitive to processor speed.
- Crossbow bolts are faster, enough so that they cannot be outrun by the player even at maximised running speed.
Save files, log files, and text event files have all been moved to sit snugly next to the main game files.
- If save files are present in the old location, they will be moved automatically.
- If event files are present in the old location with player mods enabled (i.e. the PLAYERMODSOFF.txt file has been renamed to PLAYERMODSON.txt), then all files there will be moved to an "Archive" folder in the new location. You can move them out of the archive into the Events directory to have the game read them as before.
- Log files aren’t moved. Anyone playing with files may want to delete any remaining files at the old location. As a reminder, that would most likely have been at
  - "[Username]\AppData\LocalLow\We Three Nouns\To Carry a Sword" for Windows users.
  - "/home/[username]/.config/unity3d/We Three Nouns/To Carry a Sword/" for Linux users.
Whimsy Mode is no longer under construction. Check the last option in the "Game Settings" menu and go into combat to see some cheer added to your violent conflicts.

We Three Nouns of video games are grateful to everyone who has taken an interest in To Carry a Sword: It's About the People Who Need You. Our student group has dispersed since the 2022 release of version 1.0.0, but we knew we wanted at least one more update in order to correct obvious bugs and do what future-proofing was possible. Launch stream

We Three Nouns is (/are) to broadcast on Steam upon the occasion of launch, February 14, 2022, starting at 1:00 pm Eastern! We have been streaming our development process off-site this whole while, but at last we can demonstrate the game for curious newcomers.

Members of the dev team will appear (by voice at least) as they come available, and we expect to broadcast for at least an hour within the demarcated time. For those who have never watched a broadcast on Steam before, it should be easy to find on our game's Steam page once live. We hope to see people there!

Can you upgrade your equipment or caravan or anything?

Also, is the map randomly generated each time? Meaning will each play through be different?

WTH is wrong with the "Attack" in this game?

Your a guard, and you have no way of knowing when spacebar is or is not going to work so you can attack, and while spacebard-attack fails to work, you get surrounded and have to surrender? Seriously. It seems that attack needs to be paired with a direction, which doesn't always works so well if you are using keys to crouch - and even so... still rarely works....
