I got this game for the price of a beer and all I can say is that there aren't many good things in life you can get for the price of a beer, except Oxenfree II. They are both great for increasing depression and midlife crisis. Oh well, at least they put an end to the story of the first game.

It's been a while since I played Oxenfree. I remember enjoying it. I enjoyed this sequel too. Pretty art, good sound design, nice music, great dialog, and excellent voice acting. I like how the story unfolds as you play. Gameplay is mostly stress free, which I appreciated. You can take your time to find the hidden notes and just enjoy the environment.

Reading other reviews, it seems like some people did not like Jacob. I found him awkward and sweet. I enjoyed his anecdotes and how he kept opening up with random thoughts to fill the silence. Every chance I got, I tried to seduce him. :D I liked Riley's bittersweet story, and the melancholy ending. Emotional. Enjoyable.

I love Oxenfree 1, consider it at least 9 out of 10. This one didn't do it for me.
Pros: Some good moments. The "screen-tilt" part was genuinely my favorite action part in either game. Some moments of good writing. The migration conversation on the bridge was genuinely good.
Cons: Doesn't innovate enough. Same old tricks done the same way.
Jacob is a dumpster fire - most unlikeable character I may have ever been stuck with in a game. If he's not complaining about something, he's talking about something boring. Not believable as a character at all.
No new game plus!
Awful ending that gives three choices. I picked one. It said, no. Pick the other two.
When discussing the ending and the consequences, my options were
A: Agree it played out well
B: Make a joke about it working out well
C: Imply it worked out well
So much for player freedom lol
Story and characters markedly worse than the first time.
