Project 99 is a brand new publisher and, after getting to know the team in the past months, I’m impressed by how much they love Piratopia and the extensive experience they have in building games!

I'm ecstatic to reveal that the game has just passed 200.000 organic downloads!
That's like filling almost 2 of the largest stadiums of the world...

I never thought the game would achieve this as a solo developer with no marketing budget, and it's all thanks to you all, I'm very grateful to cross this milestone together!

I know a lot of you have been wondering why there haven't been updates or what's the future of the game, so I'll try to clarify it.

Currently, as a solo developer, I think I've reached the best I can do and I need people with stronger knowledge in areas I can't cover to deliver the game I have in mind and implement your suggestions.
Until that happens, unfortunately, the game will remain in standby and in EA stage, obviously free for you to enjoy.
At the same time, as a solo developer that enjoys the creative process of making games, I need to switch context and experiment with new games and mechanics to reach new players, expand our community and eventually bring passionate teams onboard to expand on the best games.

I know some of you might feel disappointed, I feel very sorry and I hope you could understand me aswell.

Hello Gladiators,

Important Milestone!!! The game just reached 100.000 downloads in less than 2 months with more than 2.000 people playing the game every day, with zero marketing! Just... wow, I never expected this to happen and I thank every single one of you for this experience!

About the patch, it contains :

• Added verticality to the gladiatorium with high grounds. This should hopefully make the singleplayer more fun and experience even more goofy ragdoll moments.
  
• Losing a leg is not lethal anymore. You can still hop around with 1 leg but losing both is an insta death.
  
• Increase stamina cost when throwing weapons in multiplayer. The MP became more about throwing weapons and less sword-fights.
  
• Fix spawning position for the ballista and cannon in the endless mode.

Something you've always asked is how to support me and show appreciation for this game.
So far I've always rejected any financial help because I wanted to first make a product you guys enjoy and see how far I can go with that.

The time has come for me to start building up funds that can further, not only grow this game, but other projects I have in the pipeline.

This patch reworks the stamina specifically for pvp and removes it from the single player modes.

The single player modes needs to remain fun and 'spammy' so people can enjoy the silly rag-dolls moments.
PvP on the other hand doesn't have too many tactical decisions and it just isn't fun for players that want to get competitive or optimise movements and their decisions.

This patch contains :

• Disable the Stamina in Singleplayer modes.
  
• New Stamina in PvP which aims to reduce spam attacks and give op movements, such as grab / push, a bigger risk / reward factor.
  
• Ability to set the stamina on/off in custom lobbies.
  
• Introduce NPCs in the custom lobby.
  
• Several bug fixes.

Hi Gladiators,

This new update tries to improve the stamina system especially for PvP.
The old stamina system was slowing your hits and you were recovering it only at the end of the animation. Also certain weapons and certain attacks were easily exploitable as there was not stamina punishment.

The new stamina system is similar to the old one, but you recover stamina all the time, even during attacks, effecting your animations. Also certain weapons (2 handed) have a different stamina cost for the light attack and the overhead one. This should make the overhead attack a more tactical choice.

The patch contains :

• Nerf goblin health. They are generally too strong and too many, now they should be more of one-shottable.
  
• Nerf the fire rate of elephant archers.
  
• Make arrows not pickable from the player.
  
• Stamina mini-rework and rebalance.
  
• Rebalance some of the stamina costs of equipments.
  
• Increase stamina consumption of overhead attacks for the longswords, 2 handed mace and axe.
  
• Add Stamina HUD when low on stamina.

Todays patch introduces two new enemies and a combo.

• Archers. Unfortunately at the moment you can't equip their bow.
  
• Elephants.
  
• Archers on Elephants as a boss level.
  
• Cap fps to 90 as a good balance between framerate and not over-stressing your gpu.
  
• Lower the requirements to unlock the arena pet.
  
• Balance tweaks on the weapons drop in pvp.
  
• Grant pvp victory if the opponent disconnects after losing at least 1 round.
  
• Minor fixes on pvp.

I'm super excited to announce that the first multiplayer features are live now! All for FREE!

This what the multiplayer contains :

• 1v1 Duels with ranks. Win duels to win trophies, lose duels to lose trophies. Unlock unique perks with trophies.
  
• Custom lobby. Host your own private or public lobby with up to 10 people or join a random one.
  
• New maps for the 1v1 and custom lobby.
  
• Voice chat in the multiplayer modes. You can turn this off in the settings.

I personally can't wait to see fight you guys in the arena but multiplayer wasn't the only addition, here are some more :

• Add camera rotation assist. A lot of you complained, now the camera will assist your rotation when fighting enemies.
  
• Add an arena pets which you unlock through multiplayer.
  
• Add aura VFX which you unlock through multiplayer.
  
• Add audio settings.
  
• Support AZERTY keyboard for our french players.
  
• Rebalance (nerf) armours, they had to feel more rewarding and something to show off in multiplayer.
  
• Improve AI pathfinding so it's harder to cheese the enemies into traps.
  
• Add 'Pits' in the Gladiatorium. More ways to kill and get killed.
  
• Add 2 new enemies. Fat Ogre and Goblins. Goblins can ride Ogres for an unique combo.
  
• Add 'invincibility' in the first few frames when rolling. Skilful gladiators will be able to dodge roll almost any attack.
  
• Lots and lots of bugfixes!

Important about Multiplayer
As a solo dev, I can't afford servers, so it's all peer-to-peer and the lag varies depending on how far you guys are playing.
From the internal tests, it should be acceptable but please don't be too angry if things don't work well or if you encounter bugs.
