All of the negative reviews for Crimson Tactics are entirely valid. The developers charged too much money for their game ($30), didn't sell enough copies, then ran out of funds and all of a sudden simply declared that their game was finished partway through development, which understandably upset their misled customers. The narrative hadn't reached a conclusion and they hadn't implemented many of the promised classes. The developer then went around hedging past statements which no one bought into, particularly around available classes given that their third to last screenshot posted even today shows 20 and they let you play about 10 before the game ends and then another three afterwards if you want to beat up on random battles. There are also a lot of unpolished quirks, without question.

With all of that said, this is actually a lot of fun to play. It goes on sale for only $9, gives you at least 20 hours of very solid tactical combat, an engaging multiclass skill system, and enough story to keep everything moving along. I knew at this point more or less what I was paying for, and I was actually pleasantly surprised.
